Ok guys, here it goes. The good news is, I got it running and it look to be a fun game. Its seems to be a little more closer to Serious Sam than anything else, but I think I'm passing judgement to early. Anyways, the bad news is....it took some tweaking, uninstalling, and frustration to fix it.

1 - The game is 3 CDs.
2 - Finished installation, no problems.
3 - I went to run the game and got a "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate application" error.
4 - Went into the device manager and uninstalled the virtual drive that Alcohol 120 installs.
5 - Went to run the game and got a "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate application" error.
6 - Hrm. Checked compatability list of optical drives and my drives were not on there.
7 - Just for reliability's sake, reinstalled game in my Sony DRU-510a. Same error.
8 - Forgot Clone CD was installed. Uninstalled it.
9 - Game ran, but was not getting studders in FMV (into to game), and then some odd studders in game.
10 - Uninstalled CAT 4.4s and reinstalled CAT4.3s.
11 - DING! DING! Now everything seems to run fine!!

Hope this helps out some people, or atleast, preps them before installing.

Cheers!

Warcrow, correct me if I am wrong, but this game isn't on store shelves yet.....which means, of course, that you are playing the warez version...very nice

who said anything about shipping? You would still have to download files to make those 3 CD's, right? The game isn't on store shelves for another 4 days.

What warez editions ship on 3 cds?

There is a 2nd Painkiller Demo

I played both demos and I found the first one a lot more impressive than the second. The second one did have a serious sam feel, only not as cool. The mini-gun/rocket launcher sounds weak and just isn't that fun to use. The environment isn't anything special either. I'm hoping that the multiplayer makes up for the single player, because right now it just isn't doing anything for me.

Who said anything about warez but you?

Let's see what the original poster says before passing judgement; there are legitimate reasons to have a game before the release date. ;)

I am d/l'ing #2 now. OTHER than the graphics, i wasn't that thrilled with the 1st demo; Serious Sam was a LOT more FUN for me . . . I'll definitely wait for the reviews before dropping $$ on it.

I realize I mentioned Serious Sam before, but after playing the PK demo again I'd say the comparison is really a stretch. It just isn't nearly as frantic (or entertaining) as Serious Sam. Plus everything is a lot more constricted. SS was wide open as far as the eye could see- PK has you running around much more rigid, boxed in maps.

I apologize, apparently it has shown up early on some stores' shelves....I was under the distinct impression it wasn't going to be in stores until this upcoming Tuesday...

I played this game for several hours at last year's E3 - I know one of the Dreamcatcher guys now since I was there so long! Anyhow, it is a great game, lots of fun, amazing visuals - it's not HL2, but it does add some things to the genre - this is MUCH more than another Serious Sam game - which are fun games, but I think this is a significant step up from them

Didn't know it came out early in some stores... I won't have PK for awhile. And this isn't serious sam. Quite a difference infact.

I ran the demo fine on a GF4 but I have 1 GB of ram. You should be fine, I'd think...

Actually, I'm 1/2 through the first chapter (and so far) I must admit...the best I could describe this game is Serious Sam meets Blood (remember that game?). Its alot of -go into room, doors slam shut, kills off goons, doors unlock, move on, repeat and rinse. Thats not a bad thing, if you enojoy that stuff (which I do!).

Personally, I'm really enjoying the creepy atmosphere! I love it! I'm having lots of fun :)

They should have made the release date before the long weekend. What's a few days early? Especially when some stores obviously already have it.

Weapons combos?

Yep, If I recall correctly, almost every weapon has a secret combo. Similar to like 1 or 2 guns from ut2k4.
