This whole thing if a crock of shit

This.

Plus I don't believe what Congressman Clyburn was saying. Why would you go to the emergency room (if you have insurance) for something you could treat at a primary care physician's office? You would pay less money at the pcp's office. He then said people were doing it because their deductibles were high. If you had a $2000 deductible, it would still be stupid to visit the ER because you would still have your deductible to pay, and you would be paying more out of your own pocket than you have to. Plus if you have insurance, your insuranceprovider has already negotiated rates with all the local health providers who accept your insurance. I admit it can be hard to see a pcp on short notice, but they usually provide a few slots where they can fit in sick people. I know the hospital he was talking about because it's in my area. He's actually my crappy do nothing for the state congressman unless they're black people. Either he's lying or someone is lying to him or those poor people who are wasting their money and the hospital's resources are being lied to because if it's true that's a lot of people getting screwed over easily for no reason. People need to be educated on how insurance works before we even think about giving it to more people otherwise someone is going to waste money.

The crock of shit is what Republicans have been selling. Most of their demands HAVE been met, and Democrats have made huge compromises. I hope they were/are effectively exposed by this summit.

LOL

The party that is bught and paid for by the unions?

BTW it's not really a summit, it's a reality show.

WTF do unions have to do with anything? They're a minor part of political contributions compared to other interests...
Did you notice that unions were up in arms about the tax on Cadillac health insurance plans?

One question I would like answered by those opposed to the gov't healthcare option.
If our system is "#1" (as you claim) in your eyes, why is it not the model used round the world?

Oh s*** you're right. The Bill of Rights is not used around the world, time to scrap it for a better plan.

Did you notice they were exempted from that tax as soon as they complained?

Unions WERE up in arms but the aren't anymore..... I wonder why?

Please don't feed the troll 😀 that is, unless it's that oppressed white guy from South Carolina whining about how his black Congressman is keeping him down.

Because they have been promised an exception to the Cadillac tax for plans achieved through collective bargaining. If your company is successful enough to fund such a plan voluntarily, you're screwed and you pay for it. If on the other hand a union extorted the same exact plan on your behalf, you're golden.

Nope, not even close.

It's really pretty simple. The Dems are focused on expanding coverage and the Repubs are focused on cutting HC costs, and they can't seem to find the common ground of getting both done.

The "huge compromises" have been among the Dems, and they still couldn't get enough of themselves onboard to make it happen.

this lady talking about unfair insurance to women. what about automotive insurance, don't they pay less then men?

You mean do nothing for this state and just doing whatever the national Democrats want regardless of how it affects his constituents. Actually he's not keeping me down since more black people(going by percent) are unemployed than white people in our district. So I guess if he's keeping me down, he is sucking at that too.

Except when your 3yr old gets a 105F fever at 2am and wakes up delirious. Ever tried to put ice or a cold compress on a squirming young child? No, we went to the ER. You know what they did? Gave him alternating doses of Liquid Motrin and Liquid Tylenol in overlapping fashion until the fever broke. Motrin dose, followed by a Tylenol dose 2 hrs later. Wait the 6hrs and 4hrs respectively between doses per the label, rinse and repeat.

We felt like idiots because we could have done that at home. HOWEVER, until you see it done by a doctor and know it's safe, MOST people would have no idea that you aren't overdosing your child by giving both at the same time. Anyway, my son is 6 now and we also have a 3yr old daughter. We haven't been back to the hospital again for severely high fevers as we use that method at home now and it works. My daughter has asthma however, and we did end up going to the ER at 3am for that twice already -- she literally couldn't breathe. I'll concede it might have been ugly financially if I was still unemployed when we had to take her.

So this is the dilemna -- most people would love to "shop around" for the best healthcare or self diagnose. But when it comes to children, you do whatever it takes. We simply have no idea if a certain treatment is appropriate or can be done cheaper -- we leave those decisions to the doctors. If they prescribe a more expensive medicine, most of us are not equipped to be able to challenge their decision, and I certainly don't want the govt making that call. It's not like the doctor is benefiting from writing it -- we're paying the pharmacy & drug companies. Anyway, this issue is very complicated and I'm somewhere in the ideological middle of this debate.

Republicans haven't proposed a single thing that would cut HC costs substantially. They parrot "tort reform tort reform" because it sounds good to people who don't know better. I live in Texas, where we have the arbitrary cap on awards already, and it has done virtually nothing for medical costs.

The other big Republican demand, shopping across state lines, exists in the bills... that's what the Exchange is.

Republicans also want states to be able to set up their own systems. Well guess what.. that's IN the Senate bill.

The two things that would really substantially reduce costs, public option and Medicare buy-in, have been absolutely ruled out by Republicans + Lieberman.

Actual as an emergency physician, i can say that many people come to the er with non-emergency problems. We have implimented a fast track, and two urgent-cares. First we put mid-level providers in the fast track but the community was outraged that they may be forced to se a NP or PA. The urgent cares work great because it appears that the earliest appointments that anyone can get with their PMD's is about 3 or 4 days. Dispite this, many people still come into the ER with "colds" etc, either because they have no intention of paying, they have an HMO and can go nowhere else in an emergency, or their PMD told them to. You would think that people are cost sensitive but most are not.

Google Rep Chris Murphy.

He's a physician and a member of the Physicians' Caucus in the House.

He makes a strong case for some reforms that would result in huge savings. But he can't seem to get a meeting with Obama or his staff. Can't seem to get a response from Obama for any letters he's written; same thing for the whole Physicians' caucus. They asked to be included in this HC summit but never even got a response from the WH.

I agree, it is best not to fool arround when children are sick. They have huge reserves but crash quickly when these are exhausted. They also can be much more sick than they appear. I cannot count the number of times that I have found pneumonia or other severe illnesses in kids who didn't look sick just by sticking to the book and following guidelines.

I don't know what government is doing...

Lunch break coverage, the White House Director of Communication is spinning the health care bill as "the single greatest tax cut for middle class workers"

And that all that is needed is to explain the bill better. She's explaining how when people are polled whether they want lower health care costs or not, they are overwhelmingly in favor! When polled whether they want greater control over their own care, they are overwhelmingly in favor!
