Let me ask you hockey experts a question... if player1 has the puck and is heading towards the goal, but a defender knocks the puck away from him... right onto the stick of another attacker who scores... does player1 get an assist ?

i think if the defender actually touches the puck, it is unassisted because they had possession, albeit for a split second.

if the player that knocks the puck away happens to be the goaltender, and attacker B picks up the loose puck and scores, is there an assist?

it's weird... they give assists on goals that are rebound shots. i wonder where they draw the line between poke checks / rebounds.

Lazy week for the Sharks too. They played on Saturday and don't play again till Ovechkin rolls into town on Friday.

The Blues look much better than a basement team. Or maybe it's just because they're playing the Pens. I swear Pittsburgh is shooting for another #1 pick this year. Penalties galore... failed clearing attempts... they're just pathetic.

They should have D, between Gonchar and Tarnstrom. They've just been playing terribly.

Gonchar is hardly defensive and Tarnstrom is also offensive-minded. Their entire D is pretty bad... I expected more out of Jackman and Orpik.
 
Interesting situation in Nashville... Chris Mason was hurt in warmups so their backup Finley is playing. Guess who's the new backup goalie ? Defenseman Jamie Allison. They're getting lit up so Allison *may* come in. 😀

heh they've only given up 122 goals, good for last place in the entire league in that department. You can't figure them out ? They're losing because they can't play any D. Their goals-for stat is more than even Montreal. If it weren't for Marc-Andre Fleury these last 2 games, they'd be even further down that goals-against chute.
