Ovechkin was damn impressive last night, but more importantly my Wild beat up on the flames 6-3! Maybe Gaborik will be decent this year (hey I can dream)??

Obligitory: Norm Green sucks

No he was out. He barely played all preseason (only long enough to aggravate the injury). I am thinking they threw away a lot of cash on him based on his performance 2 years ago.

Wait, you are a wings fan and you took CuJo? Are you serious?

I stopped being a lifelong Cujo fan the day of his first Detroit/Colorado game... Before the game, when reporters ask if he will "continue the tradition and fight Patrick 'precious' Roy" he replied something along the lines of (can't remember after all these years):

"There is no way I am going to fight... I don't have much of an opinion on team rivalries, and I have a great deal of respect for Patrick Roy"

Literally, after that day, I lost a ton of respect for him. Cujo should have stayed in Toronto, especially if he didn't give a crap about what team he was on... Detroit is a city where the sports teams (especially the wings) are all based on heart and pride. Wrong city, wrong comment.

interestingly enough, an article in the National Post on Cujo quotes him as saying he feels he has moved too many times in his career. personally i would have liked to see him stick with Edmonton, but whatever.

bump for any hockey chatters...

Bondra and Savard just their first points in my pool 🙂 Thrashers up 2-1 on the Caps right now... anyone have the pleasure of watching some fine NHL action on TV tonight??

Montreal, Buffalo and Florida will be among the first teams to have a chance to start the season with three straight wins tonight...

San Jose, St. Louis, Phoenix and Boston are all trying to avoid 0-3 starts...

Edmonton and Vancouver face off tonight... right Aquaman?? 😛

^^ bump ^^

Damnit Bonzai... you had to get yours and your team's first goal of the year against your old team didn't you ? :| Bondra holds nearly every offensive record for the Caps... he finished last night with 1G, 2A.

It's been a good game so far 🙂

Man........ shoot out lose 🙁

At least we still get a point

Bert & Nazzy didn't look too good on the shoot out

Cheers,
Aquaman

Ya, they both tried 5 hole when upstairs looked better. Ah well, I think the Oilers played better all game and the Canucks were lucky to get the single point. Disappointed, but I saw Montreal beat Toronto earlier which takes some of the edge off. 😀

Cheers Aqua, great game buddy - fittingly it ended in a shootout... Torres and Hemsky looked pretty deadly coming in on Cloutier. Hemsky's goal was just sick though - what an amazing rip!

since they're division rivalries, i assume this thread keep track of the record this year 🙂

Meltdown, your boy Savard leads the league in scoring, just ahead of Bondra... no doubt thanks to two games against the Caps (the most penalized team in the league right now). 😉
 🙂 nice eh?! my boys are 1-2 in scoring. it's good to see it early, because often these pools come down to just a few points between 1st and 2nd place. 🙂

 Go Oilers!

With Hossa & Bondra........ Atlanta is going tt be pretty good 🙂

Cheers,

Don't forget Savard, Holik, Modry, etc.. The Thrashers are going to have a very good team.

I've got great seats for 15 games this year too, including last night's home opener.

 🙂 that is awesome. wow, 5 pts for Savard. he has games like that - he did it last season as well. if he stays healthy, he could take a run at the scoring title. that's why he's a legit 2nd-rounder in a draft, even though the pick got some jeers... 😀

anyone see the sked for tonight?! wow, some great matchups.

Vancouver is in Detroit... always love to see the Canadian teams play @ the Joe! should be a great one... looking for H. Sedin to start producing! 😀

the Battle of Ontario part deux already! the Leafs get an early chance for revenge in Ottawa tonight... Wellwood got an assist against Montreal... nice to see him getting an opportunity to play in the bigs... hopefully he'll get to play tonight against former Windsor Spitfire teammate Spezza 🙂

other matchups... the Rangers visit the Caps, Florida @ NYI, Pittsburgh @ Buffalo, Boston in Tampa Bay (should be a good one), Calgary @ Colorado, and EDMONTON looking to go 3-0 when they visit the Ducks!!!

go oilers!

Had TG dinner yesterday, Ham it was with an Orange glaze, tasty! 🙂

Funny story: I was at a friends place for TG dinner and he's telling me about this stuff he won at work in some contest or something. So he shows me this shirt, nice shirt, not super, but nice. Then he points to this picture hanging on the wall, says it's autographed by some person he heard was famous. So he reads the name, "Johnny Bower", and immediately I'm like, "Supposedly famous??!" 😀

Now in his defense he only watches the Playoffs so he's not exposed to much Hockey. Also I admit I recognized the name as soon as he spoke it, but I didn't really know any details about why Johnny Bower was famous. It was funny though seeing how totally clueless my friend was about it all. Told him to Google, we read stuff, now he knows the picture has some value. 😀

Nice picture too, small print of a painting of children playing hockey.
