Sabres fan here. Hopefully this thread sticks around. Buffalo has a pretty good young team, might be a little bit weak on defense but if they get goaltending from either Miller or Biron, I think they will make the playoffs. Should be an exciting team though. Vanek has look awesome thus far after coming off a 40 goal AHL season. Dont be suprised if he makes a run for Rookie of the Year eventhough people are hyping Crosby and Ovechkin.
 
The Wings look pretty good... I said it last year, and I'll say it again: Jason Williams is going to be a serious threat as a 3rd-liner...

It's just real goofy to see the Wings play a crash-the-net style offense... I've been brainwashed by the left-wing-lock for the last decade or so...

On another note, I predict that Florida and Atlanta are both going to tear it up this year... (Atlanta only if they figure out their goalie situation). I expect to see FLA get to the conference finals at least. I hope Ottawa does good again, but I have no faith in Hasek. IMHO, they should have stuck with Lalime.

Off-topic, but do you guys wanna start a ATOT fantasy hockey league? Preferably with low-stakes cash involed so people stick around? (like $20).

Well, the Trashers are like 39-27 so far, out of 3rd place in the East by 12 points, and the only reason they are surviving is because Kovalchuk has been on a tear, already breaking 100 points. Goaltending absolutely horrendous, though, with Nurminen being 5th worst in GAA. :|

Oh wait, thats my NHL 2k6 season 😱
 
Thrashers fan here. If we sign Kovy I see us going really deep into the playoffs. I'm so pumped for the season though. Already got my tickets for our opening home game on October 8th.

I was the "champion" of the last ATOT Fantasy Hokey League, but only because I got REALLY lucky in the playoffs. I came in 4th in the regular season. Maybe this time I'll show up for the draft so I don't start with half my team injured.

I'm sure GaretJax would be interested, he ran it last time.
 
I've heard about Vanek and he's been lighting the Caps up (not really a big feat, but still) in 2 preseason games...

Ovechkin was the real deal last night - made things look pretty easy, including the shootout goal... but the lack of a good supporting cast will likely kill his Calder chances... Crosby will have the numbers for sure.

They went after Bondra since they realized Kovalchuk would stay in Russia for the year... I'd be real surprised if he did end up in Atlanta after all that.

Who knows... Hell, Datsyuk ended up coming back to the wings after signing 2 russian contracts... The difference with Kovalchuk is his agent has a track record of being a total dick.
