rh...how do you do it? At least you have Ovechkin to watch...I've got....well..no one. :(

*sigh*
Seriously, Ovechkin is the only reason I tune in. He's accounted for like 23% of the team's goals and probably 90% of their wins.

Can't you at least watch Bergeron ? :D

Also, you just snuck by me on a week where Ottawa played 3 times and Spezza had 8 points, things will be different next time, mark my word :D ;)
yeah, it definitely helped we were 2 weeks into the season when we picked. I usually don't follow stats at all and wouldn't know to pick Spezza or Staal. On the same token, I wonder if people would've picked them so early either.

Question for the fantasy hockey people in the thread. In one of my pools I traded away Lehtonen and Gagne for Cole, Frolov, and Jovo. On a scale from 1 to 10 how good do you think this deal is?
Lehtinen is just picking up steam in my opinion, and he plays on the PP with Modano. Gagne is hurt... not sure when he's back but i don't think it's long term.

Frolov is a great sleeper whose name isn't super well-known yet, but i have a feeling he is destined to be a fantasy stud. Cole I have never had much use for in terms of fantasy value. Jovo is obviously a good pick for a defenseman since he also sees PP time and is an ice-time hog.

on a scale of 1 to 10 i would rate this deal a 6.
Kari Lehtonen, the Thrashers' starting goalie who's on IR, not Jiri Lehtinen the Stars' forward

Cole is solid this year, he's got 27 pts and 42 PIM (he plays with Staal). Anyway, I'm good on goalies: I have Brodeur, Legace, and Miller now, so I could afford to get rid of Lehtonen
oh, my bad on the Lehtonen. well, there you go. looks like you have this one all figured out.

I think that if it were any other country, Crosby would have gotten on the world team for sure, but this is Canada, where every line is full of superstars!

it's like Mackenzie said... in 10 years from now he could be wearing the C. it's not to take away from his skill & amazing talent... frankly i am in awe at the skill level of some of the young superstars. Staal is SICK MAN. THE KID IS SICK

Well, B's actually had a good game tonight and beat Toronto 4-1. Now, if only they could have more than one good game breaking up the 5 or 6 losses in between....:

The encore should be good tomorrow in Toronto...

IMHO, the two players I would change would be:
Doan -> Staal, Spezza, or Crosby. The other two as alternates.
Foote -> McCabe, Phaneuf or Seabrook as alternates

that's a huge win for the B's. They can't let the Leafs bury them in that division - those rival divisional wins are almost like 4-point wins, really.

What's your opinion on the notion that Doan is filling a role as a checking forward? Whenever I hear someone legitimize his position on the team because he will be used on special teams, I think of a guy like Shanahan. They're both wingers, and Shanny is on fire. I really would have liked to have Shanny on the team. I'm not going to nitpick or anything... but this is one swap I would have liked to see.

It will be interesting to see under what conditions Staal and Spezza could crack the lineup. And by that I mean, is it as simple as a forward getting injured, or would it specifically have to be a centre? I guess since neither of them are wingers, it doesn't matter. It's not like they can't play those positions :)

That Ovechkin goal was incredible. I don't even see how he even saw an angle. He was passed the goal line when he shot it. What an amazing rookie.

It went off Huet's shoulder, he was behind the goal line.

Actually I think he shot it through Huet's pads but while Huet was closing up (while he was down) he kicked it in with his right pad/skate.

Yeah looks like you're right, they didn't have that angle on the broadcast I was watching; regardless, it was a bank-shot. It can be argued whether it was intentional or not, I think he just threw it towards the net. This was the first time I watched him play a whole game, his style reminds me of Pavel Bure.

I didn't notice it the first time, but after looking again (on my HQ MPEG), he actually deflected it through his own legs on net from the defenseman's point shot while skating towards the side boards. I've watched this kid for only 34 games and I've never seen anyone with such hand-eye coordination in my life. He does these things with his stick repeatedly whether it's thigh-high or above his head (though illegal). The kid must've been a lacrosse player or something too.

BTW, Huet was QUICK. He robbed AO in the 1st period multiple times.

THis may be the reason :Q
