Spezza on fi-yah again...

And about the reffing... yeah it's sad to see they've let up a bit. Initially they were calling all the interference when a player dumps the puck in and chases but gets impeded... now they're letting them hit the chaser more. That's one thing I noticed more.

I can't believe the B's gave up a goal, off the face off, with 30 seconds to go until overtime in a tie game....

Oh wait...yes I can.

:frown:

Dammit, Sakic is such an Oiler killer. Oh well, I guess Morrison had to drop a game sooner or later 😛

Thankfully the Flames lost last night too... tight division!

My Sabres are looking good lately.

Ottawa will be great until the playoffs, where they will undoubtedly choke. They are already written off in my book.
not so fast... the playoffs used to be about grinding it out / playing in seaweed with all the grabbing, etc. We'll see how the new rules affect that. If you're in the playoffs, I'm not so sure you want to be giving your opponent 10 PP chances. Especially Ottawa's PP.
Ottawa will choke in the playoffs, no matter what the new rules are.

Not if they play the Sabres 🙁

I don't know how I feel about this trade. Sturm and Stuart have been Sharks all their careers so far and their fan favorites. We'll see how Thornton fits in.

yea i'll be honest, when i read the people who were traded my first instinct was "WTF" but after some thought i think it might be the right thing...

Hopefully it'll turn themaround, i'll still be keeping track of sturm, stuart, and primeau =\

Hopefully not 😉

I'm surprised too, but I'm glad to see him go. I think if the deal included Marleau it would have been better, but oh well. The B's are finished anyhow...

If any of you guys watched Thornton this year game in and game out...you might understand this trade. Almost every single game he coasts out there...and he has zero mean streak. I mean, with all the bad penalties the B's take this year, Thornton only has 4 minutes...

Oh well, maybe after a few years of being in the cellar, we can end of up like Ottawa did when they used to suck hardcore...

*shrug*

Oh, also, here's a comment by him that is classic...

Thornton -- now 26 -- believed he was playing the best hockey of his pro career.

''I felt like I was playing well, I was playing consistent," he said, ''but it just wasn't good enough."

Best hockey of his pro career?

wow, still shocked by this one as i rub the sleep out of my eyes here in my cubicle.

was there any rumour of this? damn! i wonder how many times in history a captain has been traded... not many i bet. i was convinced he would be a Bruin forever for some reason. anyhoo...

from what you were saying Insand3D... maybe he wanted to be traded and is just being coy about it. it's not really his style to coast around... he's been pretty aggressive in past years. if he suddenly opens a can of whoop-ass in SJ, it will look pretty fishy!

i probably already told you guys about the time i met Thornton's brother at a party. he was a real dick 😛 he was trying to put the moves on my then-g/f 🙂.
my other Thornton connection is that a guy I used to party with back in school is one of Thornton's best buddies and stays at his Ontario home during the season. got an indirect invite to go party there but I doubt that would ever materialize. 🙂

well, shake-ups work sometimes! this is an interesting one to say the least!

I heard on the radio that this is the third captain in a row that Boston has traded. There was Bourque and one other.

Is there anywhere to watch games on the internet? Either free or a pay to view service?
<-- no ice hockey on TV
<-- no TV anyway

That makes for a great trivia question. "Three Boston Bruins players were traded while they were wearing the 'C'. Thornton and Bourque were two, can you name the third?"

Lonyo: I know Fox Sports had an internet package for viewing baseball games... perhaps they have the same for hockey. Other than that, you can catch most of the highlights on nhl.com just by registering your email.
