Booyah!

Caps and their Fans are going to be pissed and I can't blame them. That's the wayy it goes sometimes though.

super job from the Habs on shot blocking, that is what killed the Caps

That's a shame. Oh well, at least the Canucks are playing on Saturday.

lol at the "incidental contact" call on the caps goal... Halak wasn't inhibited AT ALL.

shouldn't have come to this though.

Awesome finish, which Habs identity will show up vs the Pens? Underachievers or the team we just saw?

Ok, I'm still alive... but with all the damn overtime with the sens and the come back of the habs I'm nearly tapped (good lord the Olympic overtime too).

What a come back... Since it will be a cold day in hell before my leafs don't suck again... GO HABS GO.

Ovey is pretty classy though, nice of him to salute the crowd and look like quite the pro shaking hands. Pretty sad when the entire rest of teh team runs for the showers, lol.

Yep there's a reason why he's won the Lester Pearson 2 years in a row (voted on by players assoc).

Halak saved 131 of 134 shots in the past 3 games and let's not even talk about how many blocks Montreal had. Fcking rebirth of Patrick Roy... let's see if he can replicate it vs Pitt.

Go! Habs! Go!

What a great game.

And that waved off goal was the right call.

Caps outshot Montreal 292 - 194 in the series lmao. It's almost too funny to type. The positive note is that the Caps set a new playoff record for SOG in a series. Hopefully they can fill some of those power play defensive woes in the offseason.

This team was the good team? The only part of the team that was worth anything was the goalie. How many shots did montreal have? 15 or something like that?

lol... as if the Habs weren't good at least defensively tonight... bahhaha that is laughable. if you said they are playing over their heads right now i might agree with that but to say they weren't good tonight is crazayyyYyY son

gomez cuts through the neutral zone like no one else right now... he just skips through... Camalleri is playing lights out, grinders are chipping in... Markov is sweet... Bergeron is terrible defensively but has the PP howitzer... Habs just have it going right now... my 06 Oilers blocked shots like no other playoff cinderella team before them and this team reminds me of them... i think this Habs team can take the Pens deep...

They had 16, but one stat the box score won't mention is blocked shots. The Habs had around 30 this game on top of the 43 shots Halak absorbed. That's Stanley Cup defense and Pitt can win but will need to stone the power play, Montreal is first in the league IIRC.
Washington basically pitched tent in their offensive zone but the defensive "cocoon" as the announcer said was too good. Hal Gill and Georges blocked 8 shots by Ovi and Ovi's other 10 were saved (or waved off by ref due to interference). All Montreal needed were the powerplay goals to win in the past 3 games. Smothering D, Patrick Roy 2.0 and an efficient power play is all you need to win in the NHL.

You didn't hear about fifty times how many shots were blocked or deflected? They had great team defense against an offensive-minded team. How do you win playoff hockey? Not like how the Caps tried.
