Unfortunately not at that price. We had him for a bargain even though he held out twice. Believe me, with the right defenseman (KLEE), he's a Norris trophy candidate even if he doesn't hit. His numbers are always up there. Him and Lang kept the dismal Caps at a respectable top 7 ranked PP all season.

Well...I hope half the team is dumped. Rolston...gone. Thornton..trade. Murray...Trade. Make Knuble or Lapointe the Captain. O'Donnel...dump. Gonchar...buy him a plane ticket tonight.

:|

Dude, Thornton should be the captain of that team for years to come.

He had a bad playoff series. He needs to go through what he is going through right now to succeed in the future.

Until he actually DOES something in the playoff other than take penalties and assists on goals for the other team...screw him. He's like the second coming of Lindros. He wasn't injured the last two playoff series we got bounced, and he still sucked. So did Murray.

Until the Bruins have some scoring depth, shutting down his line won't be too difficult in the playoffs.

Thornton is one of the top three power forwards in the NHL, with Bertuzzi and Tkachuk. He is still SO young too.

Yeah, any team would be happy to have him playing for them. Boston is still young, you need some veterans to get through the playoffs (and depth).

WOOT! Habs make history
Tomorrow's headlines in Boston: "Joe Thornton traded for bucket of pucks to some team in the European Hockey League"

same. gives us far better chances in the conf finals (assuming we get there) also - the avs will give det a much harder time than the flames will.

but the flames are winning right now :(

Hockey bracket because I'm bored.

Shamelessly ripped and photoshopped from cbs.sportsline.com/nhl/

I originally picked Detroit to win it all, but after their (Detroit's) series with Nashville I think Colorado has the best shot.

I am hoping to see the Leafs lose this series.

Go Sens! Go!

Well, Sharks play the Avalanche.

I think we might fare well if Forsberg doesn't get on his game, Colorado has a pretty decent defense though. A more agile defense than the Blues at least. :(

I'll be in Montreal the last weekend in May ( a friend is getting married so I'm going home for the first time in 5 or 5 years). I guess it is possible that the Habs might be playing a game then.

Otherwise, the only way I'll see them live in the play-offs is if they play San Jose. I missed the one game this year because I was in Singapore on a business trip.

I'm thinking Lalime will not be with Ottawa next year, or whenever they play again. On a side note, after reading that Joe Thornton was playing with torn rib cartilage and getting shot up before every period, after only 6 days of recovery, my opinion of him has completly done a 180. I think he should be the Captain of the B's for years to come.

Yeah, I think it's pretty incredible that he played at all, but Sullivan shoudn't have kept him on the first line with that kind of injury (and by first line, I mean the line that was facing Koivu's). He clearly wasn't healthy enough to compete with that line, so why not put Nylander's line against Koivu's?

I agree...Sullivan is still young and has never coached this type of situation before. Some bad choices were made. I think they should have kept that Samsonov-Bergeron-Nylander line together in Game 7. I felt so bad for Joe...if you saw his interview after the game, he looked like his family had died or something. I think this might be a important point in his career..now he knows what it's liked to lose like that, and will do his best not to experience it again. I really hope there is hockey next year..

On the upside, the AHL team I have season tickets to, the Manchester Monarchs (LA Kings), dropped the first two games of their best of seven series @ home, but came back to beat Worcester (St. Louis) the next two games in Worcester, posting back to back road shutouts, 2-0 and 6-0 to even the series up @ 2-2. coming back to Machester on Thursday. I've got tickets as far as they go in the Calder cup playoffs.

:)

Edit:

There are some rumors floating around that Bruins ownership will purge the whole management team, and Brian Burke may come over from Vancouver to take over. I think that would be great personally..

Glad to hear it.

Like I said, I would take him in Detroit ANY DAY. Thornton should be the C in Boston until he decides he doesn't want to be.
