Hawks are going to be pretty solid this year.

Much better that the "throw random pieces together and pray" strategy of last year, although I guess it was probably unavoidable.

And, crazy as I might be, I still think they could have won the cup if Sharp buries that OT shot in game 7.

With the way they picked up their play in the final 4 games of that series, I tend to agree. I just hope they can be as consistent through this season as they were during the 2009-2010 one. Plus they all got a nice full summer rest...something that they didnt get the year before. It makes a difference.

Varlamov has been everything I hoped for. Only 2 games but wow, first against Detroit he let in 2 goals but could do nothing on either really, then pitches a shut out against the champs in Beantown. If he stays healthy, I see great things.

Our offense on the other hand better pick it up to give him some goals to work with.

It looks like Cam Ward is shaky. Give him some time and maybe he'll find his game.

TSN reports:
"I love watching Sidney Crosby, but aren't you guys sick of all this by now?," he said Tuesday night on NHL Overtime on Versus.

"I'm sick and tired of listening to Sidney Crosby saying, 'nothing's new yet...nothing's new yet.' Just don't interview him anymore. I know he's the best player in the league, the best player in the world. Head shots are very, very difficult. I'm not saying he's not hurt. There's no question. I've been hit very, very hard. I understand what concussions are all about - you have to be very concerned about this. But enough."

I hate JR but he is 100% on the money with this. Yes, Crosby is the best player in the league, but I'm sick to death of the constant interviews. GD it, he'll be back when he's back.

...then he'll probably get smacked in the head again and we'll have to endure 5,000 more interviews.

Whats up with the Hurricanes?

at best they sneak into 8th in the east. at best. theyre a budget team with a mediocre coach that spent the pre season trying out kids more than he did prepping for the season.

so they played tampa, which is a strong team. they played the caps, another strong team. no way they would win those.

maybe could have beat jersey, i didnt get to watch that so i dont know /shrug

It looks like Cam Ward is shaky. Give him some time and maybe he'll find his game.

its not him, its the defense. they sucked at the old system and the detroit guy has a new one for them to suck at.

the pp looks good, finally. the pk is decent. they are taking WAY too many penalties. defense is bad and putting larose on the first line is an idiotic move. should be poni, rutuu or maybe dalpe if you want a kid to get experience.

surprised they beat the bruins, didnt expect it. glad to finally see a win, however. both teams looked sloppy in the first, and the canes are taking way too many penalties.

Definitely looked like it hurt. Reminded me of a Derek Engelland KO. I wasnt impressed with Asham's fisticuffs for us last season so hopefully he's got his mojo back, but time will tell. Beagle isnt much of a fighter and Asham is a known tough guy so even though I'm a rabid Penguins fan I dont give too much credit here.

That was way too much effort for 244 views.

Pretty happy that the Devils beat the Kings tonight, but they still seem to be allergic to scoring. They get plenty of chances but don't finish them off. They pretty much dominated the 2nd and 3rd periods but couldn't score. Still 0 for the season on the powerplay (aside from one on an empty net, hey Carolina :p), fortunately still perfect on the penalty kill too.

Who the hell designed this schedule though? Devils have 5 days off between game next week.

I'm feeling good about the Hawks this year.

I only saw the third period tonight, but they generated a ton of scoring chances. Many of those will go in over the course of the season.

7-1 shellacking put on by my Avs last night. Granted its Ottawa who is most likely the worst team in the west, but it was back to back games on a 5 game road trip for which we're 3-0 already on. Starting with a shutout win against the stanley cup champions I might add.

Anyone who thought (like most of the pundits did) that we would be 12, 14 even 15th in the West better take notice. Avs are coming.

And unlike last year where we were 9 games over .500 in January and only 2 or so games behind the division leading and conference leading Vancouver Canucks, we don't have Craig Anderson or some of the worst d-men on our team to just give up on us this time.

Going something like 4-30-2 after the allstar break to tank for Gabriel Landeskog. And ohhhhhh is this kid going to be special.

Ooooh, Asham's so baller for kicking Beagle's ass. LMAO! It's Jay fuckin' Beagle.

Bush league theatrics by Arron though...

Which he apologized for later. He doesnt normally pull that stuff so I think he gets a pass for getting a bit fired up.
