I wonder why the PATA drivers are not WHQL'd and why I still have to manually install the drivers for the PATA controller? Ridiculous... NVidia just can't seem to get it right.

Do we uninstall the old drivers?

Alos, what are the drivers to stay away from...? Is it the IDE and SMBus drivers or just the IDE drivers?

Its recc. that you do a clean intsall with these. Or make sure all previous nForce drivers are gone.

I installed over the top even with Nvidia SW IDE driver,0 problems.

The only time I uninstall drivers is video drivers when updating to new ones.

FYI I did not not install the audio part of the forceware drivers since I'm using Audigy 4 sound card rather then the onboard sound.

Yeah if you use a SATA IDE Hard Drive ya Id install them pronto ! :)

You have to do it manually.

For the Parallel port it isnt in these.

I've been trying the firewall and so far so good, before I used to get data corruption. But it's still too early for me to say that it works like it should though.

I read since the firewall fix for data corruption ,it causes high cpu usage compared to before,if I can find the link will post it.

hey, i currently have an A8N-E nf4 (amd 939).....I'm using the 6.70 chipset drivers right now and i'm wondering if i would benefit from updating to the 6.86 ones. Does it fix any stability or performance issues? Since i do have somewhat of a random BSOD occuring on my system...

Personally, I found the latest drivers (6.86) to be the worst chipset drivers I have used. And I uninstalled all the old nvidia drivers. In the past, I have just removed the graphics drivers and installed the new nForce4 drivers overtop the old ones-works better that way I have found (but tried the nvidia way, which was a change from their past reconmendations, only to reboot to the slowest pc ever). I don't use the IDE driver and would only consider it if I was running a raid install-people who have built hundreds of nForce4 based computers reconmend the windows ide drivers.

so should i try replacing the 6.70 drivers with these....if so, how should i install the driver, i'm kinda reluctant in doing a clean install unless necessary. If the new drivers screwed up the system, would it be possible to just re-install a past image from acronis true image.

Don't know much about acronis true image
(nothing as a matter of fact). This is how I would install if not using the IDE drivers (reconmend stick with windows ide drivers)
1. Uninstall video driver
2. Reboot
3. Install new drivers over old drivers
4. Reboot
5. Install video driver
6.Reboot and go play!
