Dez was a rather good steal, and you have to remember the Moss fiasco - JJ wasn't going to pass that up again, period. The STUPID move was letting Adams go, and not getting shit for Crayton. The Cowboys have sat on talent for years.

And as for him knowing nothing about football ... eh, he played more than most of us, lol.

Drafting a wr when you have 3 good ones already and the o-line is a piece of shit is stupid/moronic, only Matt Millen would do something that retarded.

I'm loving the constant utter failure of the cowboys this year, and the stupid look on their douchebag owner's face with every subsequent pathetic loss.

Hey now, we're not allowed to make fun of Jerry Jones according to certain individuals in this thread. 😀

To be fair, at the time there were questions about the receiving corps.

-Miles Austin had one good season, it was unknown if he would produce again.
-Roy Williams, to that point, had been a huge disappointment in Dallas.
-Patrick Crayton consistently makes mistakes in the clutch.

At the time, the O-Line wasn't a huge concern. The only real question mark was the left tackle because Dallas recently released Flozell Adams. The rest of the line was identical to the previous year. Hindsight is 20/20 of course, the Dallas's O-Line has been decimated with injuries (and poor play).

I missed part of the second half. Dammed Uverse DVR froze up and wouldn't reboot. Finally got it going again, just before the two-minute warning. I was glad to see that Kitna had managed to get them down the field for one last TD.

meh, all of kitna's stats were during garbage time. there was absolutely no way the cowboys were going to come back and win that game.

i don't care that they were 1 onside kick + 60yd drive with no timeouts left and 40 seconds on the clock, they were never even close to winning this game after the giants were up 38-20.

being a redskins fan and knowing all too well about garbage stats from campbell during the last 5 minutes of games the past 2 years, they mean absolutely nothing, and the cowboys are in for a really long end of the season with kitna leading them.

Stil LOL'n at the stat guy....he must be a hit at all of the parties he goes to...blurting out stats that pretty much no one else cares about even though his team is now 1-6 and pretty much done for the year...

Plus he gets mad if you make fun of Jerry Jones. :awe:

Does Romo's injury seal Wade Phillips' fate? Or does it buy him one more year?

I think he's gone. It's too bad they ever hired him in the first place. They've wasted a couple of very talent-laden teams with his crappy coaching.

Cowboys fans should worry, because it could save him.

I agree. They were bad when Romo played and Wade has had ample time.

Your comment about Crayton can really be applied to the entire Cowboys team. If you look strictly at the numbers, Tony Romo has enjoyed a very good career thus far. He is not an elite QB, but he is certainly good enough (by the numbers) to win the Cowboys a championship. What the numbers don't reflect is that his mistakes seem to come when the game truly matters. Though he doesn't throw an egregious number of picks, for instance, the eye test seems to say that they come on that critical drive, rather than in the middle of a game.

Maybe that's simply a mis-perception, but I think it goes to show that raw numbers can't always be trusted. Now, Romo has also only played for ~4 full seasons, so maybe this perception is simply due to a small sample size.

I wonder if any Cowboys fans could chime in.

Wade isn't a great coach but he's not a bad coordinator, Jason Garret on the other hand....

Well, Romo comes from the same breed of QB that Favre comes from. He'll stick a lot of throws where they shouldn't be. But, for the most part, his bad games with multiple interceptions are when the Cowboys are already down and he's trying to bring them back. A lot of people see this as costing Dallas the game. I see it as him trying to make plays to win it.

Romo's win percentage as a starting QB is as good as most other "elite" QB's in the same timeframe. Simply put, Romo wins more games than he loses for the cowboys.

I picked on Patrick Crayton because he's doing mostly the same for yet another underachieving team (the Chargers). It's amazing how many throws he gets at the end of a close game that he fails to bring in. He's a good decent receiver 3 quarters of the game, but beyond that, he fails to deliver.

I doubt it. Wade has had plenty of chances, but has failed miserably. Honestly though, Wade is the least of their coaching problems. Number 1 is Jason Garrett, their offensive coordinator. The guy is a TERRIBLE play caller. Get a competent play caller in for dallas, and their offense would be even more productive. Hudson Houck, their O-Line coach should be canned for their O-Line play. Dave Campo should be axed (AGAIN) for their shitty DB play. Basically, the entire coaching staff needs to be cleaned out.

besides him not playing for 2 years..when he did come in, and even in the 4th quarter, they had PLENTY of opportunities to stay int he game. going for it on 4th instead of the FG while 3 scores down, 10+ minutes left?

They had chances (ignoring most of their play during that game, sure), but coaching has killed them in this game, just as it has in the previous 3 years.

For whatever it's worth, Phillips has had a history of teams collapsing in the playoffs or failing to make the playoffs and, while it isn't fair to pin all the blame on him, it is a disturbing trend throughout his career. In fact, prior to his win against the Eagles, Phillips was in elite territory:

But great regular seasons and lousy postseasons are nothing new for the architect of the Curse. Phillips has won 69 of 120 career games as a head coach, for a winning percentage of .575 which makes him one of the 30 most successful coaches in the history of the NFL (min. 100 games). Among those 30 most successful coaches in history, all but one can claim at least a single postseason victory on their resume. You guessed it: only Phillips has failed to win a single playoff game as a head coach (0-4).

He's now 1-5 in the playoffs.

I'm with you though. If the Cowboys want any chance of contending with this group, they need a new coaching staff sooner rather than later.

in defense of phillips, usually star-laden teams are probably the toughest to actually "coach". with so many me-first egos that affect the lockerroom as well, what can you really do?

look at all the ego filled players that had in this futile run... romo, TO, roy williams, flozell. everybody wants a piece of the limelight.

the giants on the other hand avoided blockbuster trades, free agents, and built the team through the draft. they had their most successful season when they finally got rid of the biggest ego in that team, tiki barber.

as you can see, i dont see any giants fans miss the headaches that were shockey and burress.

Romo isn't the main problem with the cowboys, but he's certainly not a championship level QB imho. He's okay to excellent when the team is ahead, but he definitely crumbles come crunch time often enough that I have a hard time seeing him go through :

crucial division matchups during the season
and following it up with several playoff games and then a SB. I guess he's still young and could improve his volatility, but he's not really very mobile (to be fair, neither was Aikman, but Aikman was iceman in comparison) and he's not an ironman like many champ QBs have been in their primes.

What the cowboys need to win championships :

(1)- Jerry Jones to back off a bit. Okay, maybe more than a bit.
(2)- A tough head coach that's balanced and on top of his staff.
(3)- Some solid additions to the offensive line, preferably starting with a killer center.
(4)- A true A-list QB. Romo could get there, but I have my doubts. With 1, 2, and 3 taken care of, it could take a lot of pressure off.
(5)- A defense that can strip, force fumbles, get sacks, force interceptions, and all around do more than put up decent yardage stats. For example, I'd much rather have a defense that was mediocre in yards allowed, but was league-leading in forcing turnovers and td returns.

I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Honestly, does that really matter now? I am pretty sure that everyone can figure out that the Cowgirls aren't going anywhere this year...

The remaining schedule is pretty darn tough, lots of scrappy teams that want a piece of the playoffs. I'd say the boys are headed straight to a decent draft pick and nothing else. 1-15 wouldn't surprise me, but I'd predict 4-12 or 3-13 solidly.

Hey retard, you do realize that I was proving someone's statement wrong, right? Fuck, can't correct anyone here or all the fucking haters get their panties in a twist. Now, go back to suckin Indy off.

Plus he gets mad if you make fun of Jerry Jones. :awe:

I don't give a fuck if you make a post making fun of him - I do it routinely with my friends, but you had 5 posts of the same nature out of like the previous 7 posts before I quoted you. That's obsessive and unneeded in any post - go nef in another thread.

I am always surprised how fast perceptions change in the NFL. A couple years ago Garrett was the next hot coordinator, a shoo in for a head coaching job. Everyone wanted him. Now he couldn't get a job at Burger King. Whatever. Go Giants.
