Dislocated is not worse than broken. A quick google search turns up that, without surgery, you are recommended to not even put weight on a broken ankle for at least 6 weeks. With surgery, it depends on how sever it is. Dislocations, on the other hand, require a reset and are generally better after a few weeks.

that isn't what your first paragraph says heh, it basically said your dislocated injury took longer to heal than the broken bone.

i'm just going by what the medical experts of the nfl and people on sports radio have said, because with dislocated ankles, that usually means tendons are on the verge of tearing or are so stretched out that they will take more time to heal.

also, i don't see why anyone would break an ankle and NOT have surgery on it. i broke mine years back, fractured tibula, and i believe it was about 4 weeks before i would put weight on it. total healing time before i could run again though was like 12 weeks though. obviously the nfl guys have better equipment, people, and tools to get them ready as quick as possible though.

Aww, it was 95 degrees. Poor Bay Area babies! It must be so hard to spend a couple hours in heat when you get two whole seasons in California (amazing weather and forest fire).

I was in Austin last week, came back on Friday and was back here for those days. Granted, it isn't Dallas, but holy shit it was way worse here than it was in Austin over that time....and I'm used to southern heat/humidity.

The major difference is that it was a very strange weather pattern: very hot for this time of year, and very muggy--so there was no typical cool off in the late afternoon and chilly evening, which is standard for this area. The fact that most of us don't have AC (it really isn't needed), makes life brutal the last couple of days.

I don't know what experts said that. I've had dislocated AND broken bones. You know which ones took longer to heal under the expert medical care of my father? Hint: It wasn't the broken ones. =)

I think long term, dislocation in general is worse because you are susceptible to future dislocation, and it happens easier each time. In the case of RG3, I think a break would have been better as it most likely wouldn't break in the same way again. His ankle is basically on borrowed time.

That might be true, for the long term, but as RG3 is already injury prone. He is on borrowed time to begin with.

Oops. Yeah, that was a typo. Dislocation takes less time to heal than broken, or even fracture. And surgery isn't going to help something like a fracture.

I am not saying the weather isn't bad, but it certainly isn't reason to cry about. Austin was relatively mild (high 80s, I believe) and has fairly low humidity for Texas, when compared to like Houston. People skipping a game due to it being hot gets as much of a pass as Green Bay people skipping a home playoff game because it will be cold.

RE: Dislocations. It depends on the damage to the joint--e.g. torn tendons, capsule, etc. can make for a very difficult and lengthy heal time.

I learned that while in school and have first hand experience :p I dislocated my shoulder and tore a number of ligaments, rotator cuff, biceps tendon, and a severely damaged capsule. It was so shredded when I would laugh or cough I could feel my shoulder sublux.

I would have MUCH preferred to have broken my humorous or collar bone. Outside of a really nasty break I would take a break over a tear *in many places*. But it depends on the break--I broke my fibula and never had a cast. I have seen the same for some NFL players and others miss the entire season. Every injury is different.

'Hawks might get a stop here if they stop getting the penalties...

I'm not thinking Lynch will be getting much tonight...if the game continues as it's heading, he won't be playing much in the 4th q....might pull him sooner. I'm hoping to see Michael in there for some snaps

Damn that didn't look good...hope it's not his hip

shit, now I feel bad for pulling against him tonight, as he's been great this season. Now taking away those 2 TDs really has to sting for owners (well, 1 TD--only one of them would have happened. still...)

....but hey, my gap is now 7.5 points with another half of Wilson to go. If Harvin doesn't return, I got it....2-3 baby!
