He won't be back to his 2007 self until the second half of this season at the earliest. More likely next year.

The physical tissues of the knee heal LONG before proprioception returns after ACL surgery (or any ligament repair, for that matter).

Proprioception.

What's throwing him off so much is he still doesn't trust his knee the way he used to be able to, and there's no cure except time and mileage. He doesn't really know where it's at with the same finesse he did before injury. Did you see when he caught his foot and tripped up on that play where he underthrew Moss in the endzone? THAT'S an example of the problem. This stuff, after ligament reconstruction, usually takes 12 to 24 months before it's 100% back to the pre-injury level, and no amount of work speeds the process.

He'll be scary good again, just not yet. No offense to commentators, but when they talk about a player being "healthy", they don't know wtf they're talking about. They just know the guy's been cleared to play. But frankly, with his knee wonked out he's still playing like a top 10 quarterback, and that should keep the rest of the league nervous.

Honestly, it looks like Moss has regressed more than anyone else with the Pats this year. He's not as fast as he was last year, and he's not going up to get the ball. Galloway has just been useless...over the hill, I guess.

I'm a physical therapist with experience in sports medicine.

No, they are not like us...but there are some aspects of the human body that apply to everyone.

Outside of the one big run, 49ers D has done a great job stuffing Peterson today. 2-3 yards per rush all day.
