I'm not a cowboys fan, but I've watched enough games to notice it's quite obvious that the team composition and play calling sucks bad enough that in many games Romo ends up pretty much singlehandedly having to bail them out. And because of it, he tries to do too much and ends up blowing it half the time.

Get rid of Jerry Jones and his horrible micromanagement. Get a decent coaching staff and front office. Put together a decent O-line and running game together to take some of the pressure off Romo for once so he's not responsible for winning each and every game offensively all the time. Maybe if he didn't have to make that last game-saving play every friggin game, they'd finally get somewhere.

I really like the guy. Not more than Bush or Bell but I do like him a lot. I would be really happy for him if he went some place where he could start. Even happier if he went somewhere with a more tenured back to learn from.

I don't know what it is with the Lions but their backs never seem....mature. They make a lot of stupid mistakes and they get hurt more than any other team's backs.

Football is annoying because of all the idiot fans who only focus on the qb. Take a great qb and give them a shit o-line & no running game and they'll definitely "suck."

There's a reason why people like Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer have rings and Dan Marino doesn't, and it has nothing to do with qb skills.

as of this morning he wasn't on the DL or PUP but he also hasn't practiced at all.

I'm in the same boat. I might have to start Leshore and hope someone something magic happens.

Skills have plenty to do with it. I don't recall Tony Banks playing on that Ravens championship team, and he wasn't starting (if he wasn't released by then...someone can refresh my memory).
 
Turns out Richardson was never informed by the Browns organization/coaches/anyone that he was being traded. He found out from a friend over the phone whom he didn't believe, and corroborated it by radio.

“Yeah, I found out on the radio,” Richardson said during an interview with 19 Action News in Cleveland. “Actually, one of my friends called me. He was like, ‘You got traded?’ I was like, ‘Man, shut up talking to me. Get off my phone.’ I turned on the radio, and all of a sudden I heard, ‘Cleveland Browns running back has been traded to the Colts.’ It just hit me in my face like I can’t believe … I didn’t see it coming. I had good relations with everybody. I guess it’s the best for the Browns. At the end of the day, it’s the best move for both of us, I guess. I want to be a Brown. I didn’t see it coming, but at the same time, I’m a Colt now, so I got to move on get ready for Sunday’s game.”

An elite QB does not need a run game. (See Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees)

If I just traded for a player and that is what he said, it would make me feel even better about the trade. He had every right to be upset and say a lot of stuff but took the high road.

The Colts need help as dumping everything on Luck will just kill him and any future the Colts/Luck has.

No one would confuse Trent Dilfer with Dan Marino. Sure, there's a minimum skill level required of any SB-winning QB, but the rest of the team plays a huge role. This is why I get such a kick out of Patriot fans and "Brady won 3 Super Bowls!" Suddenly, when the Patriots lose two, it is everyone else's fault and Brady had no role in the failure.

The 9-7 Packers won the super bowl with a horrible running game, and a beaten and bruised Oline in which first 9 games Rodgers was sacked somewhere around the 50 sack mark. (7-9 sacks against the bears early that season... it was hard to watch lol)

The QB position is not the only position on the field, however they are the offensive general, and have the full ability to audible and change the play need be. Their mind is just as important as their arm. Anyone who has watched Peyton Manning should see that he walks under center, looks at the defense, and a good portion of the time calls a small or big audible that beats the defense he sees.

Yep, but the Romo criticism is vaild. The fumble in 2006 on the FG attempt, a plethora of game-losing Brett Favre-esque INT's....he's not getting an unfair shake -- its totally legit.

The he's getting Aaron Rogers type money and hasn't earned it, IMO.

To help the team yes. But it would not have made Brees look or perform any better.

The Team, any team, needs balance to improve their chances at playing a good season, however there are more QBs than on 1 hand that play well without a Oline or Run game. Romo would still throw interceptions, and would still lose the ball.

Romo is what I would call the Very average Qb I have ever seen. Not amazing like Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Manning, even Luck and Wilson and other QBs who have just entered looking sharp.

However Romo is better than... Plamer, Ponder, and so on.

The cowboys in general need better management and team overall to do better, but it would not improve Romo one bit.

This should be edited to the Game-losing Brett Favre-esque INT's last few seasons. In his first 10 years that never happened. As he aged however... He threw that ball up more and more.

Granted it was exciting to watch the camera sprint across the field to see who was in better position to catch the ball. Half the time it was a losing INT, half the time it won the Game.

I understand, but like Favre (in the last few seasons), those INTs were totally inopportune, both losing potential superbowls (the Giants and Saints).

Interceptions are going to happen, but what a time to gamble when your season and a possible ring is on the line.

Another good game IMO tonight. Looking forward to see how it shakes up and see if KC can pull one out. I'm taking Philly though

Yeah, to be honest, I'm surprised to see dougp defending Romo. I thought he gave that up after last season's meltdown vs. Washington. I'll be honest -- I don't think Romo is a terrible QB by any stretch (though dougp rates him way too highly in the list he presented earlier; I'd take Luck over Romo any day) but he certainly has a mental block that causes him to be crushed under pressure. Maybe he should look into hypnosis. :biggrin:
