OFFICIAL NFL conference championship thread

I'm hoping for Bears vs. Steelers myself. That's what football is all about. We haven't had a good defensive smash mouth superbowl in years.

No, the Jets took care of them on Sunday Jan 16 .. now they need to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday coming up Jan 23

I think Green Bay was able to dominate Atlanta because they played indoors. So even with a 'meh' running game they were able to move the ball, their receivers were able to use their speed. I think Green Bay needs a better running game against the Bears outdoors and in the cold if they are going to win. That and the defense needs to continue to get turnovers. Cutler will likely throw a ball or two that someone on defense can make a play on, they have to do that. I'm sure Green Bay will be the 'in' pick here, but I think this will be a tougher game than Atlanta in all honesty. These teams know each other and match up decently. I see Rodgers being chased out of the pocket, if he can get the ball to an open receiver on the run I like Green Bay's chances.

After the Steelers-Ravens battle, I'm looking forward to the Packers-Bears. Another bitter rivalry game, facing each other for the 3rd time after splitting the regular season games and both games were close, played in cold weather, should be a good one.

I wish the SB wasn't always in warm weather or in a dome. I love the winter playoff games.

How does that make any sense? Playing indoors would easily favor the Falclowns over the Packers. Im just glad Atlanta lost.

Because Green Bay's running game isn't too strong, or at least not that consistant. I think by being indoors they didn't need the running game as much as they will outside in the cold.

Lovie Smith is going to be on the injured reserve list after the Packers finish with the Bears this weekend - and just because I'm in Wisconsin doesn't mean I'm biased or anything. :sneaky:

For the AFC I want to say Steelers as I think they're the better team, but Jets seem to have an undeniable luck-streak going so it's anybodies game. I think it's going to be one of those games that you'll know who's going to win after seeing them play the first quarter.

Agreed, it is the match up I want to see. But, even if it is Jets instead of Steelers, we will still have two of the best D's on the field. Only GB can monkey Wrench it up for me right now, so.... DA BEARS!

Lets get one thing straight about the Packers - Bears rivalry that the National Media simply doesn't.

I'm a life long Packers fan. Born and raised. Same with my family, and nearly every other family I know in WI. The "rivalry" between the Bears and Packers is not really one born of "hatred"... it's born of a odd, mutual respect. Its not dislike or disdain between the teams of these cities (we save that for Cubs and the Brewers). There's a strong sense of respect between the teams and the fans I think. Sure I hate those FIBs, but I respect their team a ton. Bears are old-school outdoor football as are the Packers. Founders of the league and the sport. Think of it like wanting you beat you big brother at any chance you can get.

You want to talk hate? Packers and their fans HATE the Vikings. Fuck them. There's no mutual respect there at all. Viking suck (this is pre-Favre BS too)

Saw this in a Jets forum...too funny 😀

Unless Green Bay has another 18-penalty performance like their first meeting with Chicago, I think the Packers win that matchup. Packers over Bears.

I've predicted against the Jets every game this playoff so I'm going to do it again and hope they take out the Steelers too: Steelers over Jets.

Interestingly enough, 3 of the top 5 defenses are still playing (2. Pitt, 3. NYJ, 5. GB).

I'd rather see him get concussion #3

but not really, that would suck, but I cant really root against the bears now can I
