Yea, hell of a snag right there, that ball was high and had some zip on it. I'm really impressed by the GB O-line, they started off like crap but now they are giving time for Rodgers to stand and deliver death-darts..Wow, now the freak recovery by Matthews, this one is over folks.

Er not really. They got some action on the Steelers secondary but were crap in every other facet of the game.

Um, hasn't that been the rule forever? I always laugh at people who say the refs favor the Seahawks. How many seasons in a row have they been the most penalized team in the league? "Oh, but they should be penalized even more!" (say teams they beat) "therefore the refs love them". Lol, ok.

Add in that the teams they play have been proven to be penalized far less than average. I guess they clean up their act just for the Hawks. Except when they're pushing off on Seattle DB's or running illegal pick plays on their safeties and LB's. But those are okay.

I kinda blame the networks for this perception (in particular Collinsworth). They find one missed call and hammer on it for hours or days. But missed calls for other teams? Not a word. Take the play where Wilson blocked for Rawls, right before Rawls got hit with a helmet to helmet and had to sit out for a while. Collingsworth: "that probably could have been a block in the back on Wilson". And about the lack of a flag on the helmet to helmet? Crickets.

Seattle is the most penalized team EVERY year and it's just part of their strategy, the Ref's can't throw a flag every 2nd play or the game would come to a crawl so they continue with committing fouls knowing a lot of them won't get called. You can't really argue against their strategy, they've won a SB and played in 3 IIRC.

Shit, I remember 2010 when the Pats clobbered the Jets 45-3 to end the season and then after a bye-week LOST to those very same Jets in a playoff game in Foxborough. Talk about a letdown LOL..

Goodness the Fins was horrible yesterday. Do they know how to tackle anymore? After the turnover right before half time (in which the Fins could be within 1 score after falling behind in double digits) and then another turn over at the beginning of the 3rd QT, I turned off the game because the Fins could not win and I was right.

Yea, I would have liked to see the Lions pull off the upset but the dropped passes were a killer AND that was one of the worst called games in memory. How do you "miss" the facemask when that's where the damm ball is!.

There were a lot of bad calls. The facemask was not one of them. If anything it was defensive pass interference. The facemask would not have happened if the defender had not interfered.

maybe instead of partying and flying back and forth, should have been doing more reps. When brady was suspended, he wasnt partying and cleaning his garage, he made edelman come out and run routes for him.

Uhm yes it was, that should have been offsetting penalties and replay of 4th down, NFL Agreed it should have been offsetting penalties and a replay of 4th down. It wouldn't have mattered though in the end as they couldn't stop the run anyways.

Incredible. The first quarter GB looked like trash and NYG defense was swarming all over them. Now it is looking like a walk in the park. Amazing turn around.

It was well into the 2nd quarter that the Giants were dominating, but a couple "dropped" passes kept the Packers in the game. I say "dropped" because the two in the end zone were high degree of difficulty. They could have been caught, but each would have been spectacular.

Troy Aikman kept agreeing with Ben McAdoo's conservatism, which was also a factor. The early punt worked out as a field position play but 4th and 5 on the opponent's 36 yard line is the very definition of 4 down territory.

In the 2nd quarter, they had the quick 3 and out where they ran it on 3rd and 12 because McAdoo didn't think they could convert and was ready to send out the punt team.

He essentially did the same thing with their final first half drive, merely happy to have the Packers burn their last 2 timeouts with plenty of time left on the clock. It still took a miracle hail mary by GB, but McAdoo has to at least try to keep possession away from Rodgers there.

If you're not playing to win, you're usually going to lose. Especially when your offense doesn't put a lot of points on the board, you can't just play ball control and hope your defense plays lights out. And not after you've lost your top cover corner.

There were a lot of plays where the Giants just gave the ball up. Two dropped TD's - to Shepard and Odell. Bobby Rainey fielding a kickoff at the 3 then stepping out of bounds instead of getting it at the 40. Another dropped Odell catch. The Hail Mary, not playing fundamentals.

And the O play-calling has been suspect as it as all year. McaDoo may be a good head coach but he obviously can't handle being an OC as well as head coach.

A lot of Giants fans are pissed about the boat trip as well. Whether it's relevant or not. Well there is always next year.

Time to root for Green Bay though, to take out the cowsissies.

The first thing a ref is going to see is the pass interference that initiated contact. Everyone in the room I was in called for pass interference on the play. That was very clear. What no one saw until the replay was the facemask.

I'm honestly not sure what a ref is supposed to call if one penalty causes another like that situation. Do you know?

They call both because they both happened.

It's not like you can just punch someone in the face or kick them in the nuts because they interfered with you and think you won't get a flag because if they didn't interfere you wouldn't have punched or kicked them. Facemask penalties are called for safety reasons.
