Clearly goaltending as he touched it 1) while it was on the way down and 2) was in the cylinder (if just barely - https://vine.co/v/OYzrHIpQpZh).

What should not be overlooked is that UCLA got the rebound and would have at least tied it and probably would have been fouled and made the FT.

Art. 3. Goaltending. a. Goaltending occurs when a defensive player touches the ball during a field-goal try and each of the following conditions is met: (Exception: Rule 10-3.6) 1. The ball is on its downward flight; and 2. The entire ball is above the level of the ring and has the possibility, while in flight, of entering the basket and is not touching the cylinder

The ball had no chance of entering the basket.

The call at the end of the bruins game was the right call. Sometimes there are bad goaltending violations, I think that's the case here. The ball was clearly going to hit the Rim if the SMU play doesn't jump up and interfere.

The ball having a reasonable chance of going in, no it wasn't a reasonable chance of going in (subjective), but you still can't go up and grab balls that are going to hit the rim and stop them from hitting the rim (objective).

Whether it was going in nobody knows, likely it wouldn't have. But the ball was clearly altered from a path that was going to hit the rim when the SMU player hit it with his hand.
 
Everytime I see the replay, it appears to only hit the rim cause of the SMU defender..

Doesn't matter much to me though. Didn't have SMU going far.
 
At least I'm not in last place. Got 10/16, not that bad for randomly picking teams and knowing nothing. Hoping to get at least 11/16 today. I did even watch some of the games and sort of enjoyed them, which is pretty good considering I don't even like basketball. 😛
 
damn I had Nova in the title game how am I not in last place. This is the worst bracket I've done in some time ouch.
