I went ahead and got this and for me, this game has the best single player experience of any fighter ever, so even if online doesn't work well, I'm content that I didn't waste 60 bucks. That said, I tried 1 online ranked game last night and didn't notice any network issues.

they didn't ragequit after i beat them, they ragequit while they were losing before the match ended.

the people who are 1 and done aren't ragequitting, it is just a sign of how sad the community is. you play one match and lose and you are done? really? how the hell do you expect to get better if you don't even try to learn from your mistakes. and the game is 2 days old so it isn't like anyone is just totally destroying anyone right now. everyone is starting fresh.

Completely agree with you. I used to love facing better opponents in SF4 b/c I could learn their styles and techniques. What are they doing right and I'm doing wrong? I would play them over an over again.

A lot of times I'll play with people who aren't very good and give them pointers. Sadly, most people just quit or boot you from a lobby.

Went and dropped $440 last week on a 160gb PS3 slim, spare controller, God of War 3, MK9, and I couldn't be happier. I haven't been into console gaming for a number of years, but MK9 drove me to buy a PS3. Been a huge MK fan since I was a kid, and I am extremely satisfied with MK9. Had a near 24-hour 2 & 4 player session with some friends the day I got it, and it was tons of a fun. 4 player tag with best out of 5 rounds makes some for fun fights.

Wrapped up the story mode on Sunday, and currently chipping away on the challenge tower.

How are you guys able to play online even though PSN is down? Does MK9 use its own online service or something? I got my PS3 a day into the PSN outage, so I haven't been able to make an account yet. Do I need to have an established PSN account before I can play online?

We don't. The people playing MK 9 now are the people with the 360 version.

Also, if you are really big MK fan, the MK9 Tournament Edition fight stick is AWESOME! Probably the best fight stick I've ever used (and I've used a lot of them).

Heh, brain fart on my part. Not sure why I didn't even think of 360 users.

I might pick up the fight stick eventually. It does look pretty awesome.

Well I cant seem to get into any rooms. How long am I going to wait until I can start playing in the chats rooms without an error coming up saying that the mortal kombat server is down.

I have seen the same issue where when i click "Join Rooms" that it tells me the MK server is down

i've also seen an issue where i was in a party with my friend, and i was not seeing the same list of rooms that he was, it was like totally disconnected servers showing different rooms. i would create one and he couldn't see it, and vice versa. but when this happened, me logging out of XBL then back in seemed to make the bigger list of rooms show up (the one he was seeing).

the whole online experience in this game is flat out awful, probably the worst i've seen for fighters ever, which is sad considering how much boon hyped up online mode. i also heard it uses gamespy servers for matchmaking ... so that explains some of it.

I hope they fix the issues because the game itself is amazing but it will never gain a lasting community without a good online component. I wish companies would copy blazblue code or something that works like it.

i agree. i started a thread over on SRK about this and it has blown up to nearly 225 posts. hope NRS sees this and hears all the shit about it over on TYM as well.

there is a video of the guy Tom Brady who apparently helped write the guide and is huge in the MK scene, and he is basically saying that if we think the netcode sucks then we should just create a local scene. he basically tells the customers to quit crying and just go out and play offline if you have a problem with the online mode. hope he isn't affiliated with NRS (dont think he is) and doesn't really have ties to them, and i hope NRS doesn't think that way, cause that is such a cop out.

Has NRS given any details as to what we can expect for DLC down the road? I know they plan on releasing Lady in Red, but what about new fatalities, stages, and x-ray moves?

Yea well before the bring out new DLC characters, new fatalities, stages and x-rays, they need to fix the bullshit that is happening with the online play. Seriously Nether Realm and WB get your shit together!🙄

Does anybody know if the hidden fatalities are available in the demo, or is that only for the full version? Also do you just get the tips on how to perform the moves when you buy the extra fatalities / babalities, or can you not actually do the moves until you unlock them via story mode?

I'm debating buying this tonight.

you can do the fatalities/babalities/stage before you unlock them in the krypt, and if you do, it will then show up in the moves list from then on out.

my android/iOS app for mk has all of them listed in there so you could have quick access to them on your phone.

/shameless self plug

as far as the demo, not sure if it has the ones unlisted.

Played this at a friend's house last night and was very, very impressed. I'm even tempted to pick it up tomorrow while it's on sale. They really did a great job at restoring the feel of the games back in the golden days when most of us were youngin's. It just "feels" right. I like all the replayability that's there, also.

Bought it today at Toys R Us. Very fun but the online really is a lagfest. Very hard to get into it because it's so choppy and delayed. Good times can be had if you have people to play it locally, but it's going to be tough to keep my interest when the only people I can play with are across the country.
