Stop reading this post now if you don't want to read someone else's comments about lag & lag compensation.

If lag/lag compensation isn't fixed in this patch, I'm probably just going to sell the game. I went back to MW2 yesterday, and it was amazing. People actually died when I shot them. No more dying to people who hadn't even come around the corner yet on my screen. No one had any lag advantage over me, and I didn't have any advantage over them. Even when I was dying, I was just so much more relaxed.

ditto. Well I have the elite paid so it would suck to sell it but it's not even playable right now for me.
 
I am guessing I will get pissed all weekend playing because they changed two of my favorite guns. I hope they don't fuck with the MK14 at all
 
I still don't agree with nerfing the type 95 or akimbo's. Well maybe the akimbos, but not the type 95. That's the trade off of using a 3 rnd burst gun. Who's gonna use it then? Pretty dumb, and I'm not even a big fan of it. It still sucks at range, and it's harder to hit moving targets with 3rnd burst rifle.
 
I only used the type 95 when there were assholes on the other team abusing it. It was like having an I WIN button.
 
You know what, the only time they should nerf anything is if it's so powerful that no one uses anything else, but that gun. Certainly not the case with the type 95. It still requires some proficiency with such a weapon for it to be usefull to you.

It's funny cuz I always say "Type 95 BS" when someone kills me with it, but I never thought it needed to be nerfed.
 
Well don't think I could possibly prove the point more to myself about the disadvantage of being host. Just played a match where the lag became so bad I couldn't see anyone before being killed. I dropped mid game. Host migration kicked off and then I right away jump into another match that just so happened to be the very match I dropped from. This time not as host. I get all 3 kill streaks in a row and get 3rd place by the time the timer ran out. The match was half over by the time I started over with a blank KD score but not as host get up to 3rd? It's not even debatable that there's a disadvantage to being host and sadly the patch today appears to of done nothing to improve that from tonight's experience.

Host lag does suck. How come in MW2, host had advantage, and now in mw3, host has the disadvantage?

I really hate how you look at an enemy, and they aren't even pointing their gun at you, let alone looking at you, and all of a sudden, the trace bullets are flying out of the nozzle and directly at you lol.

During those times I just try extra hard to anticipate enemy movements. Still a great game and I have no intentions of stopping until I get level 10 prestige.
 
I don't know what the devs did in the last update, but the "lag compensation" is absolutely ridiculous now. I can not count how many matches I rage quit last night and this morning due to to this crap. Knife someone, and I end up dying. Look in the kill cam, and it does not even show me knifing.
 
It's been fun watching BD2003 - AT's resident Infinity Ward apologist - try to smokescreen the lag issue.

Technical explanations aside, perception is reality... and the reality is, MW3 is laggy as fuck. Period. Defining the technical characteristics of lag compensation is fucking stupid, because it doesn't change the fact that the perception of lag is far more prominent in this game than any of the others. It's a shame, because I would rank it #2 in terms of fun right behind COD4. It really is good.

Personally, I think there are matchmaking issues. I'm not entirely convinced that it has anything to do with in-game lag compensation or other net-code-related components... I just think the game does a shitty job of setting up matches. In the other titles, I would (and continue to) get countless hits for < 50ms games. In MW3 I'm lucky to get 1 or 2. It's like the backend system doesn't know when new games should be set up, or how best to pair clients.

But whatever... it doesn't matter. At the end of the day, the in-game lag is atrocious, and I can rage-swap MW3 for MW2 or BO and play in one perfectly smooth match after another.

There's no explaining that away, so don't try to.
 
I looked up the prestige symbols today and had it open while playing and saw a person at prestige level 5 already.

A guy on another board that i'm on is a 9th prestige, with roughly six days worth of playing time. He puts up monster stats.
 
Is anyone else having the issue where while playing online your xbox will freeze up? It doesnt freeze like normal. What it does is it will slowly kick me out to the main lobby. And than after about a minute I cant do anything. Even after I power down my xbox the image and music/sound will play for another 30 seconds or so.
 
When I first start the game, it sits there and you lmusic for 2-3 seconds, and it hangs for another 2-3 seconds and it repeats the process for about 60-90 seconds overall. Rather frustrating, but I haven't uninstalled the game from the HD to troubleshoot it yet since I was busy playing Skyrim for awhile. Guess I need to give that a try first.
 
Did the update really do anything? Lag compensation is still there. Was in a match, went to duck behind cover and I die while behind cover. I leave just to see what would happen, and there's a host migration. Type 95 is still a beast, and Akimbos are still effective.

Since they can't do it right, they should just turn off lag compensation and go back to the way things were in MW2. There was lag comp in blops as well, but it wasn't this bad. Only once in a while on a map like launch would it be a major problem.
 
I can safely say I never get into < 50ms matches. I'm always in the < 100ms range. Sucks because I am at a real disadvantage and have to essentially camp.
 
How would you know that when you leave a match it kicks off a host migration?

Because if you're the host, and you leave a match, you will literally see it kick off a host migration before it dumps you out.

And the lag chronicles continue....

The force was extremely frustrating in that match. lol

One thing I do like is being rewarded for shooting doing other things besides killing. I was running hardline in a domination match. Capped a flag, got 1 kill, shot down a couple UAV, and got a predator.. lol That's just hilarious.
 
Had a few fun rounds of FFA with DigitalCancer from here over the weekend.

I need to get some more Double XP points from the Mt. Dew thing, takes so long to get to that next prestige when I only can play a little here and there.
