Early this morning (like 3 AM) I was playing a game on sub-base. I chased a guy into the stairwell leading to the glass server room thing ran right behind him and knifed him...except it didn't register. Literally I was to the point of touching him and I knifed and it didn't register. Then he turned around and knifed me.

Later I was playing a game on Rust and someone called in a harrier. I pulled out my Stinger and aimed at it...and it would not lock on. No beeps, no tone, won't let you free-fire even though the thing was right above me (I couldn't have missed with free-fire).

There are plenty of glitches in the game that need to be addressed. Yes, some people (myself included) complain alot but I think we reserve the right to do that considering how arrogant IW was about "needing no beta" and "thanks to the crack team of testers we have it'll be problem free!" and stuff like that.

Yeah, I don't care that much about balance issues. I still think there are some balance issues and no game is ever perfectly balanced, but there are always ways of getting around those. The real problem is the glitching.

The fact is, I have never seen so much hacking and cheating in any game, ever. Not even in PC games with dedicated servers (which IW seem to think is the only way hacking can ever be done). The fact that it's so widespread tells me they really didn't test this game enough. If someone kills me several times with dual shotguns, I switch to a class that can handle them more easily. But if everyone has unlimited grenade launcher ammo, there's nothing I can do other than back out. If every time I join a match it's some glitched private game with a public lobby, there's nothing I can do to "counter" it other than just backing out and hoping the next game works out.

The knifing issues come from one of the perks, Commando, which is supposed to...ahem..."increase your melee distance." Now, reading that I'd think it'd maybe double it or something, but it literally quadrouples your melee distance so you teleport and knife like you've got a Halo energy sword. There's a ton of complaints about it but I don't think IW is planning on "fixing it." Their solution was to slow down Lightweight (which most people have no issues with) and the problem still persists.

Yeah I know about the perks, I tried them myself and it's kinda fun racking up 30 kills in a ground game with just the knife. I'm optimistic IW will patch this though. Backsides should always remain instant kill, but front side attacks should do half or even 80% damage.

Akimbo 1887s are just plain stupid and a much bigger issue than knives to me. As a matter of fact akimbo 1887s are basically knives with an 10-15 yards to them. They could easily increase the recoil massively or remove akimbo for the shotty's.

Also is it me or is the sniper rifle underused in this game? I'm thinking it's low usage has to do with latency. The times I used it, I'd aim right at some guys head only to straight miss.

I really think some of you guys just like to complain. Complain about campers, complain about knifers, etc...

To each their own, nobody is stopping you from going back to COD4 if thats what you enjoy.

Of course we know this (and I still play COD4 daily), but COD4's existence doesn't relieve me of my right to compare MW2 to it; after all, it's a sequel to THE game that has since set the bar for multiplayer gaming. BF:BC was comared to COD4, so you can surely bet it's own sequel will, too.

The $60 I spent on the game, notwithstanding, thank you very much.

Was knifing this bad in MW1? ... virtually nothing like the counter-strike series where knifing took serious skill.

No, not at all. COD4's melee was certainly easier than, say, CS, but it's downright ridiculous in MW2. GrantMeThePower's suggestion though is spot-on:

A larger penalty, say, the immediate halt of "running" or inability to draw a knife or change weapons, might help.

That would pretty much fix it, IMO. Commando should be tweaked so that it's a "charge" to the player rather than a Unreal Tournament teleportation, and if you're shot during said charge, you're stopped dead in your tracks.

I completely agree with what you've written here.
I suppose on a competition level, doing what it takes to win, within the limits of stated rules (i.e. not exploiting a glitch) is what you should do.

But on a "fun" level, playing the game takes away a lot of fun because to level the playing field everyone has to play like that and it takes something that could be tactical and suspenseful into a bore fest at best and a frustrating waste of time more often.

Exactly. I frequently find myself wanting to harass the knifers and 1887 users in the lobbies, but I hold back (most of the time). If they can derive enjoyment from what I equate to cheap nonsense, then so be it. I've tried it and was bored to tears (but got a nuke or two out of the exercise).

Unfortunately for me, it absolutely destroys what made COD4 the - arguably - best MP game to date.

Ok the Rust glitch is way out of control. My party of 5 spent 20 minutes (literally!) trying to join a match that wasn't hacked.

So, a couple friends and I just ended someone's 97 win streak. At least, they said that before the match started. We beat them again the next match as well. They were bragging before hand about getting a nuke, but no luck for them there either.

I just realized the concentration of Alabamians in this thread is unusually high.

I'm not from Alabama, but my mother's entire extended family relocated from West Virginia and NJ to the Montevallo area years ago.

Yea I got it too last night (STD). How does that work, just knife or be knifed someone who has it already? Where did it start?

Yeah you get it from knifing someone else that has it. I believe the developers were the only ones that originally had it. I think infected you get from shooting someone or being killed by someone that has it.
