Another option for dealing with low ammo is to use one man army...you can simply reselect the same class with the scar, and you'll have a fresh load. It takes you out of the action for what feels like ages, but you don't have to run out and collect anything from a corpse.

I unlocked the m14, which is a weak sniper rifle with very little kick, so it's kinda like the wa2000 where one shot kills rarely happen. But it's the only sniper that works well with the acog IMO...it ceases to be effective at long range, but the low recoil at least makes it feasible at short to medium.

Also got the m240 Lmg, which is basically indistinguishable from the mg4.

Got the tmp, which is a really high fire rate and accurate machine pistol, with a small clip. Imagine the pp2000 firing twice as fast but doing less damage. I really like it though, but more often than not I can't score enough hits to kill with it before ammo runs out.

Should be able to unlock the f2000 tonight, tried it out off a corpse for a bit, it has a super high rate of fire, but doesn't seem very accurate. Seems more like a smg close quarters type of assault rifle.

Yeah, exactly. I just go into it trying to have fun, help the team where and when i can, etc.

I have mainly been playing the team deathmatch, but the "mercenary" version because i dont know anyone.

I also tried the demolition game mode. That was a blast, but in the four or five rounds i played the defense won every time so it seemed a little pointless.

Try Domination, it is a fun game mode and puts more focus on maintaining control points than individual kills. I've had horrible K : D ratios in a Domination game and ended as top score just through capping/controlling points. And it's hysterical to drop a Predator missile on the other teams only controlled point, guaranteed multi-kill.

I usually go into the Ground War lobby or the Rapid Team Deathmatch. A good one to try if you just want to get used to the different game modes is Mosh Pitt.

I'm currently loving my "Stealth" spec. Bling Pro, Cold-Blooded, Ninja-pro, with the silencer and Holographic sight. Basically I'm a ghost on the maps to the other team and having my footsteps make no sound even when sprinting is fun. Works better in the close quarters maps where I end up being a sniper/camper hunter. I almost always get the "Most Time Near Enemies" accolade. It's also very satisfying knifing snipers in the back.

Give me a holler sometime and we'll pull you into our game.

+1, as addictive as getting a great K : D ratio is having a better win ratio is really what counts. I've got a friend with a 10:1 win ratio (and climbing, he's on a 250+ game winning streak...), it's hard to argue with that (of course, his 4+ kill ratio helps).

The key to being a team player is making sure at least two people on your team have rocket launchers (preferably stingers) to take out aircraft.

My win ratio is sucking horribly due to objective gametypes. I don't play with the same team that I played with in COD4 regularly and it's usually just me or me and a friend. I always get put on the losing team since no one knows how to coordinate. I usually do OK in kills but that doesn't capture flags or bomb targets. Team deathmatch is a bit different since a 2-3 good players, sometimes even just one, can win a game by themselves.

Why not just use Scavenger? How long does it take you out to switch classes? I'm eager to unlock this perk to see what it's advantages and disadvantages. If it's truly usable (doesn't take you out of the action too long), then there's no need to come up with a class aimed at the lowest common denominator (one that can be used for both CQB and long-range combat) since you can just swap based on the circumstances. Also, once you swap to another class, are you able to swap back even if that class doesn't have OMA?

This is generally what I do, too. What's your primary weapon?

Last night I experimented with some riot shield builds. Settled on:

Riot Shield
G18 - machine pistol
Tac. Knife
Marathon +
Lightload (i think that is the name)
Commando +

FFA was a lot of fun. Usually i switch to the G18 run around looking for a target, if i get close enough, stab. If i go in to an area where i know someone is camping, pop on shield and crouch on in. If person gets in range just bash him with shield, it takes two hits to take a person down. 90% of the time they just kept trying to shoot, or stab at point blank range - which doesn't work to well against the shield.

The knife i use just for the short to medium range quick kill. I'll also swap the G18 for something else - it just seems the best fit for what i have access too.

I've used the above build for capping points in domination. The shield would let me survive long enough while taking fire to cap. Taking point for teammates also works well.

It's advantage over scavenger is that you don't need to move out of cover to use it, so it's great if youre camping or under fire...just duck down under cover and reload. While swapping, you can move, but nothing else. It takes about 5 seconds to swap, 3 with pro.

It replaces your secondary, so you just hit y to use it. So you also need to take that into account. If you swap to another class without it, you'll have that secondary and can't oma again. Swap to a class with it, and you can use it over and over.

It depends a lot on the map. Usually the UMP for tight maps, and the M4 for the others. I've been playing around with different weapons a lot just to get more challenges and level faster, haven't decided on which I like best yet.

Ahh shield users, the most entertaining target for Semtex.

Is it just me or is that like hearing someone say "Man, I could use a spoon to eat this cereal but it'd be SO much more entertaining to try using a chopstick!" Sure it'll work but what's the point?

If "moving out of cover" is the rationale for not using Scavenger then, honestly, you're not playing the game right. That moves from the "being tactical" arena to the "you're a paranoid, boring camper" level. I can understand the usefulness if you're switching between an SMG and a sniper rifle for long range but just to reload is...bleh.

I've yet to be killed that way, though I've heard that a stick to the shield won't be a guaranteed kill.

Really? I got at least 5 kills with that method last night. It isn't "guaranteed" but usually the stick is enough to cause shield users to try to run or move and exposes them enough that 1 shot + Semtex = dead.

I actually got the challenge to stick the person who killed me on a shield user. He came around the corner and bashed me, I stuck him and then he hit me again so I died and 2 sec later he died and I got challenge spammed.

My personal favorite was on Wasteland a shield guy came out of the tunnels and a teammate and I were standing in the trench in front of him. Well, he advances and my teammate throws down a C4 pack right behind the guy and blows it up, that shield went flying.

Nice. One of my favorites was I had a shield guy charging me and was out of Semtex, so i switched to my alternate (rocket launcher). Was hysterical watching him try to backpedal away as the rocket blew him apart.

lol nice

sorry but shield users are a bunch of scrubs

Yea I agree mostly. It can be moderately useful. The shield can be really good if you have a teammate who just follows you and uses you as cover. But solo it's way too easy to get flanked etc.

+1, if shield users would actually use it for it's intended purpose it's great. It's meant to be mobile cover to tandem teammates. The problem is that 99% of gamers do not use it for that. In that context I'm all for shield users, for "I'm going to charge and bash you!" scenarios I think it's pretty pathetic.

ex. see the "Flag Runner" video that IW put out for how to use a shield effectively.

Yep, I totally agree, just listing up the options. I personally don't use either scavenger or one man army. I'm sleight of hand or bling all the way. The only weapon I have a real problem of running out of ammo with is the scar. If I do, I go with secondary, or more and more, with the shotgun attachment, which is surprisingly useful. Worst case scenario, and I'm out of ammo on both, I just pick up a weapon off a guy I just killed. All the weapons in this game are good...no need for scavenger when the bullets are already in the gun lying on the ground.

Shields seem to have their place for certain match types where you're defending but they're ridiculously easy to take down, even for me. I had two of them coming at me once, I just danced around and knifed them both to death.

And to my earlier posts, I have been getting a little better. I'm rank 25 or so now, and while I still often end up towards the bottom of the list, I do alright some rounds. I even finished first once on team deathmatch, getting two of the highest score accolades. As others said, learning the maps definitely makes a difference. There are some I have a lot of trouble with, but the smaller ones that I've been able to learn well I don't get ambushed nearly as often as I used to. I do much better on the small one with the plane fuselages in the middle (can't recall the name) and highrise.

cool man, keep at it.

Learning the maps is definitely one of the most important skills to have. Knowing where your enemies are coming from and where the usual hiding spots are is invaluable. You eventually figure out the high traffic areas and avoid them and pick off people from a distance.

Fair enough, but if you're all stealth-ed out, silencers and all, Scavenger is nice. Plus it reloads grenade launchers and your equipment slots, too. Endless supply of semtex is pretty nice...

Yea there are certain areas in some maps that I refuse to go. The one that is a demolished city area, with the big rubble pit in the middle.. can't remember the name. There are so many spots where people will just sit on a roof and camp it drives me nuts. I made it my only goal in one game to just repeatedly kill a camper.
