Ahhhhhhh, how 4 days of being down changes the whole mood of the World Series. Last few posts deal with Cliff Lee and he'll be pitching to save the Phillies season.

I still can't believe the Phillies lost last night. Even with the Damon hit, Lidge gets out of that jam more often than not (probably around 60% of the time).

Damn, what a terrible way to lose.

edit: lost in that loss though was Pedro Feliz's clutch hitting. Hats off to him for delivering when it mattered.

Agreed. The Phils rely on timely hitting and it isn't happening at all right now.

It's funny to think that if Chase doesn't hit 2 off CC in Game 1, Cliff's gem is wasted (like Pedro's was) and the series is already over.

AJ vs Lee tonight. Will it be Hamels or Pedro for the next game?

Next game? Optimist.

Hopefully Lee gets them back into it, I don't think AJ will be as good as he was last game. But then it's gonna take a miracle to get the next two 🙁

Even then they will need to win one more.
I admit I am hoping the Yankees win it at home.

I can't even begin to tell you guys how I wished this thread was open during the past 2 games so I'd have an outlet for my frustration..

should've gone lee on 3 days rest. now he's burnt for the rest of the series after tonight.
In the first innings it appeared CC didn't have much of a fastball going on 3 days rest and I was thinking it was a bad idea starting him.
He really gutted it out without his best stuff.

I was thinking the same thing. So what happens now? Lee, Pedro.... Blanton? I wouldn't put Hammels back on the mound. Unless the Phillies' bats get moving, it won't matter anyway after tonight.

yea he seemed to rely on his slider a lot more and it got over really nicely. also cc has a ton of short-rest starts so he knows how to adjust accordingly if one of his pitches isnt working instead of trying to force it over.

I wonder if Manuel would pitch Happ.

exactly what i was thinking. if it goes 7 you probably have pedro throw 6 and have happ in game 7. hamels just hasnt been as effective (he sure did start out strong though, up until that a-rod homer). you load up on lefties to bunch up cano and damon and switch around posada and tex who have struggled against left-handed pitchers this postseason. and you just pray that happ doesnt get the rookie jitters pitching game 7 of the world series. lester did it in his 2nd season so it's not unheard of!

edit: err not game 7 for lester though, but the clinching game. you all know what i meant! 😛

Hrmph. Thanks for blowing that one, Lidge. Although I'm surprised the Phillies were even in the game as much as they were. Saturday is the one they really needed - losing to Sabathia and winning with Lee isn't far fetched - Hamels blew that one hard.

The Phils should win tonight, but it gets hairy finishing the series in New York...
