I just saw that, crazy. Plus there was another story about how ARod is going to earn more in 2013 than the entire Astros roster will lol. I'm kind of surprised baseball even earns enough to support those kinds of obscene contracts.

I don't know baseball but does it not have some sort of salary cap/parity mechanisms?

There's a luxury tax on excess payroll ($178M for 2013, $189M for 2014-2016). The tax percentage increases for each year that you are over but gets reset if you stay under for one year. That's why the Yankees are under orders to get under $189M for 2014.

today is also the deadline for the Cubs ownership to come to an agreement with the city on a rebuilding plan for Wrigley field. I hope the local aldermans / city officials smarten up and let the owner do his thing and renovate Wrigley...if not I would not blame him for wanting to move to a different location (like rosemont, which was already rumored).

I never paid much attention before but I noticed that the Angels are playing the Reds for their opener. How did that come about.

Stupid bullshit moving the Astros to the AL. Now the two leagues have odd numbers of teams. There HAS to be an interleague game every day now.
