I believe that article said the actor and the assistant director got struck, and it was the 2nd time the assistant director was struck.

This film is going to be entirely in Hebrew or something, isn't it? It actually does look interesting.

I was just waiting for the guy playing Jesus to get hit by lightning again(he got hit twice while filming), and Mel would ever so kindly step in and take over the role. His dream. 🙂 Mel Gibson as Jesus, I can just see it now. haha

Yeah, that was amazing. Actor playing Jesus is struck by lightning, twice...and survives. If that doesn't make you a believer, what will? A perfect battle between good and evil there.

So out of all the evils in the world, that's what God goes after?

that the actor is an idiot for holding a metal umbrella when its lighting around him?

Actually I find the fact that the actor playing Jesus getting struck by lightning utterly hilarious. Forgive me! 😀

Edit: There's Monica Bellucci in it? Dayum.. Now I have to see it!

Yeah, I think he meant a believer in law of physics. Yes, I am a believer in science

I think it's in Aramaic, not Hebrew.

No its mostly hebrew with some Aramic. It may or may not have subtitles. He caved in and added them, but no on picked the movie up, and he is releasing it by himself.

Gibson added subtitles to try and get a distributor. He never wanted subtitles, and may have taken them out for the Feb 25 release.

So it may all be in Hebrew? Wow that would go over big in America LOL🙂
I wonder if it will be as interesting as "The Last Temptation of Christ"?

I do not understand Hebrew so I guess I will have to past on this one. I wonder why a studio would allow such an expensive movie to be inaccessible to important markets like the US and Europe? What is Mr Gibson smoking?

Gibson has paid out of his own pocket for this movie. He then tried to shop it around to movie studios to distribute it. He added subtitles then because studios told him he would have to have them inorder to get a studio to pick it up. So he added the subtitles and no studio picked it up. So not only did he pay for the movie out of his own pocket, hes distributing it out of his own pocket(Icon is his company). He will recoup all his money IMHO, with or without subtitles. And before anyone says Newmarket is distributing it, they arent. Icon has hired Newmarket to help print, distribute and collect money as Icon doesnt have the ability to do it by themselves.

Shouldn't the languages be Greek and Aramaic? I don't think Latin wasn't really spoken east of Greece at that time - Aramaic had been the common language and Alexander the Great had spread Greek about 300 years earlier.

edit: Nevermind, checked the website. They are using Aramaic primarily, and rough Latin for roman soldiers and other people you would expect to speak Latin (transplants). Leaving out Greek because the academic circles who primarily used it aren't central to the story.

I am very interested in this film.
I really enjoyed The Patriot and We Were Soldiers.

Q. Is THE PASSION really going to be in Hebrew, Latin, and Aramaic?

(A) Yes, all spoken language in THE PASSION is either in Latin, Aramaic, or Hebrew. Currently it appears that the film WILL most likely contain subtitles. Rough cuts of the film that have been seen do contain subtitles throughout the film.

we were soldiers, hrmm, that music "hmm hmmm hmmm.... blah blah" just got annoying as hell after a while

what does that have to do with anything? and yes, the movie does have to sell.. .the whole point of making the movie was to portray the life of Jesus so that others will SEE IT.

well i know that Mel Gibson's original intention was that the pictures would speak for the movie.. he wanted the acting, emotions, and imagery to be so good that there would have to be 0 words to understand what was going on... like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words...
either way, apparently he is going with subtitles now..

So what's the deal with all the anti-semitism stuff I hear about surrounding this movie? Does any of it hold water?

Jews are the group of people who can never be shown in a bad light thanks to Hitler.

well, i know one of the major actresses in the movie is jewish.. Maia Morgenstern is Jewish...she's playing Mary, Jesus's mother. not that that really means there isn't any anti-semitism..
