You hit 1.6 MB/s mine was 1.2 MB/s constantly. Sometimes higher of course but the constant speed was 1.2MB/s

I agree with you though who cares. It doesn't really matter as long as it doesn't go at like 5 to 90 KB/sec then I would care. Sense it would take longer to download it than actually just buy the game on dvd when it was released. I am glad steam lets you preload games because if they didn't there could be a huge bottleneck when everyone goes to download any game right when it is released. Then again maybe I am underestimating steam's servers.

That left me with a curious question I always wondered. What is the maximum amount of bandwidth that steam servers can saturate ? There has to be a limit. Anyone on FIOS who downloads steam games ? What is your constant maximum speed you get ? I know there has to be a speed limit of how fast you can download from steam unless it depends on how many people are downloading from the steam servers at once on what the limit may be.

It depends heavily on how many people are downloading.

The demo just started crashing on me consistently seemingly out of the blue, hope I can figure out the cause of the instability, and hopefully there is a fix for it. Played the hell out of it the past few days and didn't have this problem...but now I can play through once or twice and then it'll crash on me, done it about 4 times tonight thus far. Would be a bitch and a half to start to get into the game, get decently far on expert, and then crash right before the end of a level.

It depends heavily on how many people are downloading.

Yeah. So what do you think is the maximum speed someone on 30 mbps/5 mbps FIOS can get on steam when downloading at the least busiest time ?

After playing the demo, $29.95 seems about right. 24 or 19 even.

$50 for this is too much. I'll enjoy the demo a bit then move on I think. Maybe if it goes on sale someday.

Try switching from fullscreen to windowed without borders. Worked for me and I havent crashed since.
