I realized that I've been a member of this forum for 17 years, which is slightly over half of my entire life at this point. I think this qualifies me for Old Man status, just like BoomerD!

This forum and the main page actually had a significant influence on the path my life has taken. I used to obsess over the latest CPU/GPU releases and loved reading the Anandtech articles and debating on the forum about the latest and greatest. That interest led me to get a Computer Engineering degree and now I work at a chip company that's somewhat regularly featured on the Anandtech main page. Thanks Anand!

I was a bit of a social misfit in my teens (nowadays I can at least pretend to be somewhat normal), and appreciated being able to come here and feel like I fit in somewhere. Thank you everyone for tolerating me and for all of the entertainment over the many years.

i did an internship with a kid 20 years ago who screwed off %99 of the time, and i thought he'd never amount to much

but after he graduated he decided to get serious and ended up at intel doing some really cool stuff

i've always been jelly of that guy. i tried to get into a few comp eng jobs but couldn't land a position, so ended up in software instead.

I feel old...and sometimes yell at clouds, or say things like "kids these days.." or "back in my day..."

But yeah, back in my day, we played the classic Doom. There was no double jumping nonsense, there wasn't even jumping! We just got to run really fast.

Also, I was born before 1994.

What about 1984? And yes I do all the same things ;)

Makes me feel old when I realize some of the things in life that don't feel that long ago were actually like 20 years ago. Like high school and stuff like that. Or heck just looking at fact that I've been in my house for 15 years now and about 17 years working full time. Still weirds me out to realize that in less than 3 years I'll be 40. Like where have the years gone, I keep thinking I'm still young but I'm actually old now.

I'll sign up as old. I'm reading up on how Medicare and Medicare Advantage work. I'm a few years out but trying to plan for retirement. JFC, we need single payer system. How much should I expect to pay per month in premiums and what's covered? It's a f'in' secret! Could be $0, could be $500. Depends. How does Medicare work with other insurance? Can't tell you, submit the bills and find out; it will be fun. All this effort wasted because the medical/insurance complex captured Congress.

What a bunch of wannabe old men you are! Myself being years beyond the age memorialized in that Beatles tune. Better make the most of the ages you are at now -- the down slope after forty just continues to get steeper.

And very sadly it appears that we all (US citizens) will be facing the crappy choice of voting for someone even older than I am for President. 😫

I'm not old, I just feel old with all my health issues stemming from the type 1 beeetus. My primary doc told me that physiologically, I'm a 90yo man. Funny, Because I use to be very active until the age of 30 (I'm 45 now).

Last 15 years have really aged me, apparently. I definitely don't plan on making it past 60, if that.
