Eww, I don't like the way this thing is turning. Stuff like this tends to arc up and hit the central Gulf Coast.

I wouldn't worry too much. Dave is too fat to move very fast. With a little bit of warning you should be able to get out of the way in plenty of time.

How are the humidities lately?

They've come up thanks to Fay.

This one looks like a good shot up the gut towards New Orleans area again.

Still a little early to tell.

Have to wait and see how Gustav connects with Gulf steering currents.

Oh and it's now a Hurricane at 74 mph winds.

Thank god for this thread, had it not been posted I'd have lived my life in relative ignorance, thinking I was safe.

Oh wait, I am and this thread sucks: 0/10

Maybe an earthquake or asteroid thread will save my life.

Perhaps Dave could post this thread in his own forum in the discussion area specifically set aside for natural disasters for the whole internets to see.

Thanks for more prognostications that I could've gotten from the Weather channel. But hey, I bet you called it a "hurricane" a week before NHC right?

Haha, I came in to get some more information about this damned hurricane and all I got was this drama. 😛;

Anyway, I hope this storm avoids North Florida at all costs. I got about 24" of rain in two days, that wasn't fun. I'm already getting sick and tired of these damn storms.

Dave doesn't have any more information, and usually a lot less, than any website such as the NHC. He just runs around pretending to be smart about subjects he only has topical information on.

Don't you know that dave has monitoring stations setup on the Cape Verde Islands to gather this information long before anyone else even knows a tropical depression is brewing?

Hey dave....what's the traffic gonna be like on my drive home from work?

You're in Oklahoma?

Nothing but telephone poles.

In Oklahoma, but in my part of the state, where the people have teeth, we bury our utility lines.

I say "Bring it ON!", the rain from Fay probably made TVA $100 million dollars here, and it will probably shut Georgia up for awhile from trying to steal our water too. I can more or less guarantee that Fay MADE more money for the country then it destroyed since the area it hit was in a big time drought before hand. It has been raining 34 of the last 36 hours here and is expected to continue through the night. The spot price of electricity went from $105/MWH to $45/MWH.

well what the hell good is electricity if you don't have a grid to supply it to? big storm = power lines down = no grid = loss of offsite power = you shut down 😀

No, this is quite a bit different. This is a blowing shit down kind of storm. I'm glad that I got my wind/hail insurance when I did. I have a feeling it's going up.
