WTF...one of the eyewall dropsondes indicated 152kt winds at 220 meters and 143kt at surface. They'll prob want more data before upgrading again but christ.

As I mentioned, we're on the left of S.C. (~2.5hrs from the coast) and they're closing our public schools tomorrow so they can use them as evacuation centers.

These storms are going to make for bumpy flight for us this weekend from MD down to Grand Cayman. Hopefully it's not too bad that they have to cancel em.

Fuck that, I've always wanted to ride in one of the Hurricane Hunter planes during a particularly nasty storm.

:eek::eek:

That is 175mph and 165mph, respectively for the non-knotically inclined. :p

That's EF4 tornado territory. If it maintains that speed, wherever the eyewall hits every house will be completely leveled in addition to cars being thrown through the air.

If it hits the Carolinas as expected, based on Highland's "things my customers say" thread, (and a few Carolinians I've known over the years) there's no intelligent life there...so...bring it on! :p

I concur.

Also, NC State cancelled classes from Wednesday 5pm onwards (until Sunday, whatever) so looks like it's gonna be hairy.
