Official Hurricane Florence Thread

Looks like the US is going to be hit with a double whammy, FEMA working overtime. The Gulf was devastated with Gordon and now looks like Florence is shaping up to batter the east coast.

It's closer now and looks like it could hit land as a cat 4 and roll up into DC.

Trump better nail his hair down.

My wife and her friend are traveling to NYC all next week. They better pack for rain.

Oh, and SC had better pucker up. Looks like it could broadside the Carolina coast.

I am in Apex, NC about 10 miles south of Raleigh ... They are saying maybe 100MPH winds late Thursday into Friday ... I am not in a flood area, but there is a good chance some trees (none are a threat to the house unless it gets airborne) will be lost ... Hopefully power does not go out. Maybe the storm will change paths & stay out in the ocean.

These storms are going to make for bumpy flight for us this weekend from MD down to Grand Cayman. Hopefully it's not too bad that they have to cancel em.

Some of the rainfall scenarios are nuts for inland areas. If it stalls out over appalachia there are going to be real big problems.

And with another P-3 pass through the storm they're finding 130mph flight level winds and 945mb....so prob officially upgrading to Cat 4 shortly.

Edit: Now officially upgraded by NHC.

I’ve read predictions that it might ala Harvey. At least the area isn’t an overdeveloped concrete jungle but you’re right, lots of landslides and flooding still.
