No they don't. It's "unlimited", like everyone else's "unlimited" plan (5gb cap).

Interesting. I wonder how they're able to advertise it as unlimited, then...my usage tracking on Sprint.com mentions nothing about a limit, either.

How is ya'lls battery life? I picked mine up yesterday and am curious as to how the battery holds up with daily use.

Satisfactory. Not great, but not terrible either. Not really any better or worse than my last two phones (htc fuze/kaiser)

Well, it's that grey area that all companies seem to lurk in. They don't advertise a cap on it, but if you get to a certain point, they're going to notice.

Now, supposedly Sprint recently got rid of the cap on PHONES (but left the 5gb cap on 3G data cards for your computer), but the policy on this stuff is always a bit fuzzy. As far as I know Sprint never cut anybody off for using too much data on one of their Everything Data phone plans, but simply reserved the right to do so if you were using some obscene amount of data.

So, don't worry about it one way or the other is the point. But as we were discussing, the $10 Evo "4G" charge specifically removes any possible data cap that exists anyway.

or $60/month if you sign up via EPRP (or qualify for an employee discount -- there's a link on the sprint website where you can submit your work email address and see)

I probably don't have to worry regardless...my current use since the 28th of last month is 23Mb. :p

I got a chance to handle one at the local Sprint store yesterday. It's micro USB.

One thing that I noticed that's interesting is that it uses the exact same battery as my Touch Pro2. I brought my TP2 in because it refused to hold a charge. They told me they didn't carry the TP2's batteries in the store. On a whim they let me try one from the EVO-4G and lo and behold, it fit. :)

Micro. I picked up a handful of these so I can use all my old mini USB cables with my EVO and still use them with older stuff, as my MP3 player, old phone, phones of family/buddies, camera, external HD's, etc all still use mini

Did I mention how happy I am it has a dedicated headphone jack? Yeah... my last two HTC had ONLY mini USB and 3rd party adapters are shit

Anyone who has had both an iPhone and this device who feels like delving into an opinion on how the two experiences compare? I'm on a Palm Pre right now and my upgrade isn't until December. I've thought about jumping ship for the iPhone 4 but think with the monthly price difference, plus yearly upgrades, that I may just hold out for the EVO in December (assuming nothing else comes along between now and then).

The default mail client sucks for IMAP connections where you need access to a lot of server side folders. Just downloaded K-9 from the market. Very slick e-mail client and of course the best part...free!

Interesting post from self-labeled "Android fanboy" Michael Arrington:

Don't Buy the EVO, it is a Seriously Flawed Device

Well, I’m an Android Fanboy, and I’m telling you not to buy this device. The battery life is abysmal – MobileCrunch calls it a “dealbreaker” and I agree. Yes you can do a few things to get a little extra time out of it, but this device routinely runs out of power while sitting on standby overnight next to my bed. You aren’t just charging this once a day. Or twice a day. You need to be thinking about your next power fix just about any time you are using it. I keep chargers at home, in my office, in my car, and an extra one to suck power from my laptop. That keeps it going, but it isn’t fun.

By default, most Android devices do not come configured for what offers the best battery life. HTC devices especially come configured to look super flashy with tons of widgets and social networking stuff. Here are tips for some of you that are new to Android and curious about battery life.

Android is a full featured operating system. It lets you run whatever you want in parallel with anything else you want. It does not say "warning, running 50 widgets will drain your battery quickly". Just like running lots of system intensive tasks on a laptop would drain its battery quickly, the same goes for Android. Android doesn't really try to baby you, it just lets you do whatever you want, so remember to use some common sense when running applications.

Turning off Wifi and GPS unless you're using them helps.

Change how often various apps sync with the web or check for new info to make it not every five minutes.

It's better to set the screen brightness to manual(and set it to as low as you can go without the brightness bothering you) than to set it to auto detect.

trolling post is trolling... techcrunch is becoming a joke. I like how some comments magically disappear when they (techcrunch) are proven wrong

Oh please, that was hardly a trolling post.

Despite the fact that Arrington is a tool, he (and everyone else who has reviewed the EVO) have raised the same, legitimate, point about the battery.

Having your phone die overnight is pretty laughable, and having to waste time actively managing settings every 20 minutes to conserve battery life is unacceptable.

It's the trade off, with more power (running as many apps as you want in the background) comes more responsibility (having to manage it). It will be interesting to see how apple manages the multi-tasking.

It would be nice if Android came with a Task Manager from the get go, but you know... there is a market place that has plenty of managers that will autokill items for you

I've had both the iphone and android phones. The iphone first gen was the only one that had excellent battery life. The 3g and 3gs was on par with the Android phones for me (I surf the internet a ton on the phones)

As far as the reviews pointing out battery life... reviews are great, but you should supplement that with real life user experience before coming to a conclusion. You can start here with anandtech then maybe go over to the android forums. I think you will find out that it varies a lot between users, but even the lower side isn't that bad

it should have been very simple. Sprint sold out every EVO they shipped and they should have known how many they shipped... so how did they f up the count ... lol

yeah, strange. I am sure if apple did something like this everyone would be very forgiving... haha.
