Yeah, why is it when I plug my camcorder into the Video 4 input on the front of my HK AV525, the composite video input doesn't work, but when I plug it into the S-video input it does work?
Because some receivers are incapable of video switching. The newer ones are, some of them are even capable of switching from components to composite.
I want something for my seperates stereo setup that shows the ouput on range channels (read visual equaliser?) any ideas what i need and whether i can get them?
You mean like how your MS Media player does it? I don't know. But if your receiver has onscreen set up option, you should be able to see the settings (distance, level, freq. cut off, etc...) for each individual speakers, assuming that the receiver comes with these features. I don't know if Radio Shack would have a digital VUE meter, but try there.

This is my sub and my satallites are four old Cambridge soundworks cube speakers.
To get the best sound would i need a new sub as well or just replace all four satallites?

What moonshines said, it's ***Official*** and I do kinda know what I'm talking about. And I don't know if you've noticed, I answered some of the more pertinent questions there, so I figured I'll bump my own thread instead.
I don't know much about your sub (pix didn't show either), but by looking at the specs., they're comparable to Boston Acoutics. If the tweeters are silkdome tweeters, then you can get those as replacement. But I don't know if you guys have Bostons over there.

Depends on the supplied current of you lines, and the current limits of the surge protector, and the required current of your devices. If you have them all plugged in and the lights are still on, then I'd assume that it's safe. You can very much look at the specs of all your devices, then look at the specs of your surge protector and find out if it's safe. Usually, a surge protector (not an extension outlet) will have it's available plugs designed to match it's capacity. If you have that many devices plugged in to one surge protector, make sure you invest some money into that surge protector (pay some attention to current limit, clamping speed and voltage, usually listed on package)

Is this a decent receiver, or should i go for the Kenwood VR6050 that i'm being offered for sale for about 20-25% less (a refurb but in excellent shape)
If these are your only two choices, I'd go with a Kenwood. Even though refurbed, but there are not a lot of things that can go wrong with a receiver. And I trust Kenwood to give me a better performance receiver than Panasonics any day.

i'd like to know what some people have as far as entertainment centers are concerned. I was telling cr4zymofo that i may be buying a rear projetion tv sometime in the near future. Do they make entertainment centers that mesh well with such large TV's? I want to be able to keep things orginized, and just stacking everything on top of the tv doesnt sound like much fun. But most of the units that i've seen are geared towards standard TVs, i've never seen anything meant to go along with a large screen tv.
You can visit Good Guys, Tweeters, Discount Audio, etc... and see their displays of entertainment centers, be prepared to shell out some doughs. My advise is unless you have the cash, or the space, just buy the TV, then shop around for other things, like Audio rack, DVD/CD storage. You'll find these elsewhere cheaper, and might match your decor better.
They do. But I think they have drawbacks. Usually for big screesn it will be a set up where it will have two pillar type things connected by a crossbar type thing over the TV so that the TV still sits on the floor and the center basically goes around it. If all you had was the TV I could see the function...maybe. On the other hand most set ups are not like that.
For instance, it wouldn't really work for my system at all. I have a 55" TV and my speakers are about 3 or so feet on either side of it. That turned out to be the perfect place for my main speakers with a bit of toe in. I think a center would just get in the way of that. However I do have enough room between the TV and speaker to put a Lovan rack. Holds almost everything (amp, pre-amp, CD player, DVD player, processor). Only stuff left is cable box and VCR. I may get a second rack to put between the other speaker and the TV though. As it is the cable box sits on the TV next to the center channel speaker and the VCR is sort of stashed on a shelf near a wall about 10' away.
If I were you I would just buy a nice rack system. The Lovan stuff is great. I like the Classic line in black with the gold caps. Looks great.

Okay, care to give some recommendations for something in the sub $300 range then, or something to be on the lookout for on Ebay in case i get lucky? I don't want this to turn into a huge investment, rather just something for occassional viewing. I'm planning to hook it up to some $20 KLH speakers so that gives you an idea of how much of an audiophile i am
I want a new TV. Got my speakers picked out and now I want either a 34-36" direct view or a 42-46" RPTV. Must have DVI input for future-proofing. Suggestions? Price preferably < $1500
