***Official*** HD DVD Hot Deals Thread

It's not discussing format 'war'. Just stating latest news as to the future of this particular format so the Hot Deal buyers can make informed decisions. With Toshiba (one of the originators of the format) pulling out, there is not much of future for HD-DVD. I don't think NHK would broadcast such a news if they did not have all the facts.

Reuters -Toshiba to exit HD-DVD, end format war
Reminder: this is NOT the appropriate place to discuss the format war, even if you think it's ended.

Just because you got cut because you bought the bleeding edge (hence the name; because you are bleeding) doesn't mean you have to get angry that we didn't make the same mistake.

Costco has the HD-D3 for $129.99. It is the same as the HD-A3, but includes an HDMI cable. You also get 7 free movies. Price is in store only.
Costco is now $79.99. I caved and went purple.

They have a stack in Huntsville, AL which includes two Bourne movies: Identity and Supremacy.

I'll give it a whirl, and take it back if I don't like it. No 90 day policy limit on these.

Should be The Bourne Identity and 300.
Some may still have those, but most Costco HD-D3s seem to have Bourne Identity and Supremacy as mine did.

There is a thread on dvdtalk (HD area) that contains a lot of information, but I'm not sure if I can post it here. One poster says that the HD-DVDs are now on Costcos NSI (Non-Saleable Inventory) list, and are being pulled from all stores.

I just left Costco on the Northwest side of Indy. They had about 8 of them for $79, with 300 and Bourne Identity in the box.

Dman, that's a deal. I almost bought one even though I have a player already and "300" on Blu-ray.

26 movies + player for the price of a Blu-Ray player. I'll place my mistake slightly better than the fools who bought profile 1.0 players for 400 bucks.
