As I discovered yesterday, Score Attack counts as a Firefight match and you can choose which map to play (essentially). You're by yourself though.

What's Score Attack? I assume it isn't in the Matchmaking Section but Firefighting or Custom Game selection? Will probably need to use that for the Energy Sword daily.

It's under Matchmaking and the Firefight playlist. Custom games won't get you anywhere close to the same amount of credits.

Sometimes custom firefights are valid for some challenges though, which is where the easy credits can come from.

Man, way too many quitters lately. Having only one or two people on one team is unacceptable. Hopefully the playlist changes will help this become less common.

I agree. I hate the way Halo doesn't let people come and go as spots open like in the CoD games. It really puts a damper on the vast majority of games.

You still run into the same problem though but those who join late are penalized since the game is most likely already lopsided. That was one of the lame issues in CoD.

I'm still not convinced on Halo being a good game... but I am wondering if anyone has read the books?

One of my long time good friends suggested that I try to pick up the books and that I might enjoy the storyline.. anyone?

Not sure about the books but this is the only Halo game I've every played that I've liked, and I like it quite a bit. So much that I wouldn't mind Black Ops being delayed a few months...

Weekly challenge this week is going to be annoying:
Like A Record, Baby - Complete 50 Rounds in Firefight Matchmaking (3000)

Daily Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 150 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking (1500)
Support Structure - Earn 30 assists in FF MM (600)
Flat Tire - Kill 3 enemy vehicles in FF MM (300)
Participation Counts - Complete 3 games in Multiplayer MM (300)

I think it'll take 50 rounds total this week to finish each day's FF daily so it doesn't seem so bad. The 50 assist sounds like a pain in the ass though.

Not all days have a FF challenge though, probably 1 in 2 does. It just gets so boring doing FF games, I played 4 games this morning and had my fill (more than really).

I'm got through the kill 150 enemies and destroy 3 vehicles (finished both in the same game) and didn't even bother with the 30 assists. I think when I stopped I had 6 assists, so assume if I continued at the same pace it'd take around 20 FF games to get those assists.

You could pick the score attack modes where you have to defend the generators. I only last a few mins because the generator gets blown up, much shorter game then normal score attack.

I think it's ridiculous that it ends up being like 70cR/game, the benefits should be more than that. They need to make Weekly challenges really difficult but worth tons of credits (5-10K), especially one as time consuming as that.

I think they really nailed it on the weekly and daily challenges, it makes playing online so much more engaging. Instead of logging on and being like ok lets go pwn some n00bz u can logon and have fun doing other shit. All the time you spend doing the challenges does hone your skills so when you do want to just get on there and pwn n00bz your game play is so much tighter.

I tried score attack last night and gave myself the Energy Sword to try to do the 5 Sword Kills in FF really quick. Didn't work, I had to go into regular match making. :|

that reminds me the other night i got the slice n' dice medal on a matchmaking game and something popped up that said "avatar unlocked"

what does that mean?

It's an item for your XBOX Live Avatar thing. Probably a helmet or something for your virtual self.

You have to do it via the matchmaking option, if you just do the firefight option it won't count.

Score Attack will work (it's under matchmaking although it's single player). The issue is (and I had the same problem) I don't think there's any game modes with sword-wielding Elites.

I have read all the books, and they do add to the story of Reach a bit, but not a ton to be honest. This has been my favorite Halo, just because with the challenges and commendations, there is always something to do.

Have you played any of the other games? While I personally like the Halo universe, and the storylines have been ok, I wouldn't recommend you playing them just for that. If you don't enjoy the gameplay then I don't know that the story will be enough to warrant getting the game. Also, consider what difficulty you tend to play games at. Halo is best on Legendary, or at least Heroic, and so you might find the gameplay disappointing on the easier settings. Co-op definitely helps enjoyment of the games as well.

Yeah, the book Reach does add a bit to the game, but its not really specific to this game, and more in fleshing out the whole Halo world. The games actually pretty much ignore the books from what I can remember, which I personally found a bit disappointing. Granted, they don't contradict each other, but I think the games would have been better if they'd have worked with the guy that wrote the first and third books.

Something else that bugs me is co-op in Halo, Reach, and early on in Halo 2 ignores the other players. Reach would have been awesome if you could play as the other Spartans. It would have been like a non-crappy version of Brute Force (which is funny since back when they were making Halo 2, they talked about how they were going to do something like that, with different classes of Spartans, even the third book delves into it).
