Just heard Lazlo on the radio, doing an in house on 93x, heard the morning show helped Lazlo on an earlier GTA to do the radio, this time around SNL helped. 18 stations including a russian station. people will swear at you in thier native tongue. Getting more and more excited, i must say.

I think that after watching those videos, I've decided not to take the day off next week. It looks like more GTA, so I'll tide myself over with that thought and save a vacation day. I didn't say anything about possibly leaving early though.... :D

I just don't want to take a day off in the middle of the week.. if anything I'll take next Friday off :)

I would think about doing that, but the only reason I'd even take a day off is because I don't want to be at work while my brother and friend (and everybody else in the free world) is at home playing GTA4. I want to be online with my brother playing the night/day away. But after that initial day, he goes back to work along with everybody else I know, and then we'll just play during our regular times that we get together online.

At this point, I'm not worried about it, though. I save a floating holiday for later this year, and just hold out through a day of work. Won't be the first time I've been at work and have been wanting to go home to play a game. :) At least my current job affords me the ability to go home early whenever I want as long as I put in my 40 hours for the week.

I'm kind of thinking the same thing regarding taking the day off. Despite my incredible excitment for the game, I feel that taking the day off is a little much. But--taking of a little early is doable. I'm in the same boat as you--just need to get my hours in, doesnt matter which day really.

I'm taking the week of the 5th off to watch my daughter that week. I don't think I'll be able to play GTA then though. :)

Heh, yah. Thats one of the reasons I'm not going to bother taking any time off. If I do, I'll be watching my daughter, and I don't really want her around the TV when I'm playing GTA.

Does anyone know if GTA IV will use regular hit points that have to be recovered by doing stuff, or will it use the "don't get hit for a certain amount of time and your health will recover" system that has become the norm in FPSes and was also used in Crackdown?

Wasn't MS supposed to go balls to the walls with advertising for GTA IV this week? I haven't seen anything yet.

Maybe this upcoming weekend?

I'm still mildly shocked that there aren't any PS3 or 360 bundles for the USA.

I've seen ads every night when I'm at the gym (which is the only time I watch TV). There doesn't seem to be much point in a last minute ad-bombing campaign, as the hype indicates that preorders alone will break sales records.

As far as I can remember, there are no "health packs" or "automatic over-time regenerating health" in any GTA series. GTA IV will have Restaurants and multiple other shops that require you to enter and pay for your item which will give you your health back. As much as I've read on the game, that seems to still be the case.

-- I've got an Anatomy and Physiology text the next day.. I won't be able to stay up and play to the wee hours of the next morning! But alas, I've got a 4 day weekend afterwards.

In addition to the restaurants (were these in III and VC? I don't remember), GTA III through San Andreas had heart pickups in various locations/missions.

Restaurants were new to SA iirc. Gta3, VC, and SA all had heart pick ups. Didn't sexxin a hooker get you health back too?

Yes, and in addition it boosted your max health. Instead of 100 max you could get 125 for a short time.

Giggity, giggity, giggity!

Yeah, and you could go over 100 that way.

I really wish they had not gone with traditional hit points... It just makes the game more tedious when you have to deal with keeping your health up.

You're the reason politicians waste their time bickering and arguing about video games instead of accomplishing shit. We all know that you're supposed to kill the whore (cause fuck her, that's why), but you never say it. Are you trying to get us 2 more years of capitol hill testimony on the evils of virtual murder?

Ok, so now I want to buy a console system just to play this game. How long would I have to wait on PC to play this? And if I was to buy a console system which one?! I'm scared to buy a XBOX after all the red ring talk I've heard from friends.

If it comes out on PC, it'd be a while, maybe up to a year. But nothing has been announced, and there's always a chance it won't be released on the PC.

As far as which console to go with, both the PS3 and 360 are fine suitors, I'd choose whichever one most of your friends have so you can play online with them. The newer model 360's have had MUCH less reports of the RRoD, so it's possible they're good to go hardware-wise. The PS3 is built like a tank, so no worries there.

It'll probably be at least 6 months before the PC version. As for a console, either is fine. Just pick which one has other games you want too. The RRoD isn't that big of a deal on brand new systems anymore.

Yea, who knows when the PC version will be released but like Mugs says--it could be a while.

As far as which version to get, just pick up a X360 at Best Buy or Target and get the extended warranty plan if you're worried (I would!). But with the DLC, larger community for MP and acheivements (if it turns out that you care about that sort of thing) the X360 just looks like the way to go.

But dont forget--it's going to cost you $50 a year to participate in MP stuff on the 360.

-edit-
I just checked the PC release trends of past GTA games and it goes like this:
GTA:SA (8 month diff.)
PS2: October 26, 2004
PC: June 7, 2005

GTA:VC (7 month diff.)
PS2: October 27, 2002
PC: May 12, 2003

And if you're savvy, you can usually get it for a lot less than that. For instance, Buy.com has 1 year of XBL Gold for $43.99, and if you use the Google Checkout $10 off for new accounts deal, it's only $33.99 shipped. That's less than $3 a month.

You just have to keep an eye out. I've seen it go for even cheaper than that.
