I'll wholeheartedly agree with the "get a wheel" club. It really is like jerking it with a condom, or playing quake 2 with a d-pad only joystick.

I had no idea what I was missing until I ponied up for the logitech driving force GT. Its probably the best investment in gaming I've had other than the PS3 itself and the wii.

It really is that different, better, and those without one are at a disadvantage.

One caveat - its fairly hard to use photo mode with the wheel.....

anyone know of a better pad controller for the PS3 with this game? I can't deal with the six axies, the thumb movement isn't natural and the triggers suck.

Yea I have no idea how I would beat some of these license tests with gold without a wheel. So far I have 57/60 gold trophies for the license tests. S-8 is a bitch, haven't tried the remaining 2. Sometimes it can take me like an hour of trying before getting gold on some with a G27. Getting disqualified when a AI car rams you is such bs.

I haven't given up completely on some but I do feel you're correct, many golds are really not possible without a wheel. I'm sure there's some phenom's out there who can do it but for most of us that's going to lead to a wall of tears.

if you're going to spring for a new controller, why not just get a wheel?
$80 can get you a logitech DFGT.

Can't you get some adapter for the 360 controller to work on ps3? Know an online friend that did this when he got a ps3 cause he said he wasn't as good in NHL 2k11 with the ps3 controller. Said the other day he joined the #1 team in the country, don't know if it was for xbox or ps3 tho.

Yea there's an adapter:

I've considered getting one (I absolutely hate the DS3), but I've heard there's some lag in button presses with that adapter.

Well after all that this turned out to be an epic disappointment. I was hoping GT5 would be the game to make me buy a PS3. I guess I'll stick with Forza 3.

I'm about to blow a gasket. Got it last night a fired it up this morning. Installed the update, tried installing it to the HD but gave up after 20 minutes of the progress bar not moving.

Now into the game. First screen, loops for several minutes and pops up "A connection to the server could not be established." Click on the GT Home and another several minutes, same pop-up. From the time I turn it on to the time I can even select a race is going on 15 minutes. My network is fine. It's connected and sees the internet. Ideas before I go crazy?

I try and go to "community" and it says I am not online. My PS3 says otherwise. The network section in the game is empty except for cache and ToS.

The install actually takes around 50 minutes to an hour. Yeah, the estimated time remaining is completely fucked, so pay no attention to it. It will appear to be stuck for long periods of time, but as long as the hard drive light on the front of your PS3 is still on or blinking, then just be patient with it.

I'd suggest possibly clearing every single bit of the GT5 data that was installed and restarting over completely. Might be getting issues from quitting the install too early.
