There is a huge thread in Hot Deals. People are getting invites and then the people getting invited are coming back in and giving out the ones they get. There is also a link to a site that is randomly giving them away.

Just wait and you'll see a red link appear near the top of the gmail screen that reads "Invite a friend to join Gmail!" next to Create a filter link.
 
wow, this got stickied! I just hope the older members get dibs before the newer people, like <50 posts, seems like there's a whole mess of new people from the AT Hot Deals thread ...
