BTW: I just checked... Cpanel is up on server2. Everyone go get your data ASAP. Click the Backup icon in Cpanel and then select "Download Today's Home Backup". This will get you a TAR of your home directory.

You may also want to go into MySQL and export any databases that you have. Instructions are here.

You would be a lot better off going to Backups, and using the generate a full backup link. That would generate a backup that a new host could restore restore, which would contain the home folder, sql backups, and email backups.

I suggested that everyone should do the full backup... but you should also manually export the MySQL databases using phpMyAdmin. When you do the backup you will get the home directory (including all of public_html and mail directories) but the backup does not seem to contain the SQL data. I looked. I could not find it. I would not count on it being there.

Look harder, a full backup will have it.

I agree that a full backup should have the SQL data in it I have not been able to find it. I would not download just the full backup (called "Download Today's Home Backup" in Cpanel) having all the data that is needed. It does not hurt to have a bit of redundancy... but it would suck for someone with loads of data in a blog or something finding out on Tuesday that it is not in the full backup.

Where in the directory structure of the full backup are you saying that it should be? I am convinced that it is not there. Maybe Alan did not configure something correctly (it would not be the first time!).

I will note that my DirectAdmin generated backup from HostPC does contain the SQL data files. So I do know what I am looking for. It just is not there with the Ripplehost backups.

OK, I backed up everything and did a separate backup for the databases. I then deleted all of the files on my site. Anything else I should do?

It seems that way. The Cpanel license was turned back on but that does not help when the server is not running. I am not sure what is up with server1 but it was down for some before all of this happened.

Cpanel on Server2 is still working... Server1 never did come back up. It has been down for a couple of months.

Feeling in a generous mood and would like to offer some ATOT members some free hosting...;)

If you are in limbo due to this ripplehost problem or just need some free hosting drop me a PM.

Please include your domain name and a contact email address. We should have your account setup within 24 hrs...probably sooner

Included with each account:

100MB storage
1500MB bandwidth
unlimited email accounts
cPanel
Fantastico

If for some reason we have to discontinue these accounts, we will give you at least a 30 day notice.

Any questions, just PM me.

:)

We're ready to take over ripplehost and at least get the servers' back up. Only issue is we haven't heard from Alan yet, but we'll try daily for the next few days.

I'm assuming that wasn't directed to us? .... Anyhow, we'll get those servers back up and people can then decide what they'd like to do with it...

What the hell do you expect for only $5 or $10 per year?

I thought I'd provide a quick update.

Alan has started giving us the information we require to move the ripple host accounts to our own servers. We will be looking at starting that shortly. We still require some more info to complete the move and are in contact with Alan.

Cheers
Jeff
