Nope, just the limited edition. That is sick. I might get that. So far in multi player, I have only heard one English speaking person. Hopefully that will change tonight or tomorrow. My gamer tag is James1701D if you want to see that I have played it. I noticed, when I log onto xbox360.com, it will not show achievements yet. It maybe due to the early release, but it does show I played the game.

achievments are now showing up on xbox.com for gears2 :)

Well, looks like I won't be getting GoW2. I promised my son I would buy him a game if he brought home good grades from school. I didn't realize his grades came out this week and the little booger brought home near perfect grades.

I'm going to have to rent it tomorrow to start off with.

If it were not for the language, I would say get him that game. How old is he? My six year old wants me to get him ST:TFU. At least playing the demo since it has been released, has really spurred his creativity while playing. I have been letting him see Bioshock, Crysis, and Far Cry 2, and Dead Space, but this is one he is going to have to sit out on.

You're worried for a bit of language with the amount of gore and violence in the game? wow haha

Purebeast, thank you for the answer. Glad it is longer, first was so short it was sad.

He's six so there's no way he even gets to watch me play GoW2. I told him to pick out a game and he picked out....Kung Fu Panda. <facepalm> Well, it's a decent fighter for kids and pretty funny too. It's just that we've already rented it and beaten it.

Only when it interferes with my plans for world domination. :p

Oh, the SciFi channel is doing one of their Sci vs Fi psuedo documentary/promotional hacking for Gears of War 2 tonight. Comes on at 11PM EST.

You'll let him watch Dead Space? Isn't that like one of the nastiest gorriest games ever?

played the multi player for awhile, and it was fun, not stunning though

horde mode was pretty cool, but im not a fan of the match making. took me 5mins to get into game. once the match ends you have to all over again

Actually I kind of agree on this. The gore on Dead Space is at least on par or worse than Gears of War IMO. The constant severing of limbs, and the gruesome death animations if you get a bit too close to some of the bigger guys is pretty bad.

Well, I decided to go to the midnight launch and grab it, unfortunately my internal clock said otherwise. I fell asleep and woke up around 1 AM. I just assumed they'd all be gone so I'll grab it tomorrow...

I use the headphones while playing on the computer. And Dead Space is different. It does not have the blood splatter on the screen, and I can turn away as soon as I cut of the limbs, so its a lot more limited on what violence he sees. As with my 360, its hooked up the a 5.1 system in my bedroom. And if I know there is a bad scene coming, I cover his eyes. I never let him watch the first play through until I know whats coming.

It's cool so far. I'm in the caves right now. Anyone else see slight graphical hiccups in Act 1? It also occasionally happens during checkpoints.

I have seen a few glitches here and there. The A button glitch is the worst thing so far.

i saw quite a few glitches going through the game on co-op over live.

- twice the other guy playing as dom had a sniper rifle and it kind of locked into an automatic fire mode where he didnt have to reload, and it also didnt use any bullets.
- we've both gotten "stuck" in places where we couldnt move
- One time my controls were screwed up so when i was trying to move normally, i would walk as slow as if i was talking on that ear piece, and when i ran, he went into the running stance but was moving at the normal speed if you don't hold A.

there were a few others here and there. the hiccups during the checkpoints is normal, it was noted in a few reviews.

i also think matchmaking works great because it keeps your party around and you can pick a new game if you want. but it would be cool if you could keep the option to not go back into a lobby and it auto searched again for you.

multiplayer online is pretty much the same as the first one was with some tweaks. i really like how you can't rush at someone as they are firing at you, or if you are firing at someone they can't get power weapon shots off. one guy kept trying to boom shot me but i kept my lancer on him and he never got his shot off and died.

i also have to get used to the revamping of the shotgun. hwile it's still powerful, people charging at you w/the chainsaw while you have the shotgun equipped seem to win the battles more in gears2 than gears1, so i gotta get used to that for sure.

oh and i really gotta learn the maps :)

Sounds like they made some good improvements. I did like hearing that they gave guns "stopping power" so people can't necessarily bum rush you. I didn't play Gears 1 online much at all, but maybe I'll be able to get into Gears 2 MP. Can't wait to start the campaign tonight!

You mean the shotgun wins or the chainsaw wins? Your wording was confusing.

Yeah, in blockbuster games like this with a tight release date there's bound to be some bugs and glitches when it's first released, look for a patch in the next week or two to address most of 'em (if I had to guess). I remember Halo 3 had a patch on release day.

Oh, and has anyone downloaded the "free 5 maps" yet? How big is the file?

i've seen more wins with the chainsaw than shotgun. it also seems like the shotgun doesn't knock the attacker back as much as it used to when they are charging at you.

but then again, i'm still getting used to the controls in the gears world so that could also be playing into my skills.

Yea that was giving me issues. It seems like getting shot with a shotgun doesn't turn off the chainsaw like before (or you can turn it back on instantly).

Oh and HORDE MODE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Really? That's tiny! The pack of 4 maps for the first GoW was like 450 MB, and they got 5 into 100 MB this time??

Blood splatters on the screen really isn't that bad, I saw a video of Dead Space and there is NO comparison scariness/graphicness. The artist for GoW said he wanted it to be bloody, but like "haha that's just ridiculous" bloody, Dead Space is straight up gruesome...I wouldn't let me kid watch either (thankfully we don't have kids yet) but if I had to choose one it'd be GoW every time over Dead Space...isn't the point of Dead Space to systematically rip limbs off bad guys to kill them??

Well, I went and rented it with a rent 1 get 1 free coupon. I won't get to buy it until at least my next paycheck. Which means no flashback map pack for now. But at least I can enjoy the single-player, Horde, and multi-player minus those maps.
