*Official Gaining Weight / Protein Thread*

Hello.

I'm making this thread for all the wannabe weight gainers and such, since I am one.

I'm just wondering, what are good sources of protein from actual FOOD? What to avoid? KFC Chicken? Buffalo Wings? Pizza?

Are they actually good, if you are skinny and workout (to gain weight of course).

I've tried and am using Protein bars, but I'm looking for some actual food so if anyone can point out some..

Avoid the crappy greasy nasty foods. Essentially eat like you're on a diet, but eat a whole lot of it. Tuna, chicken, lean beef, etc. And of course protein shakes.

Well, I just ate 6 pieces of KFC Chicken.

That = Bad?

Itm....are you an ectomorph, in the sense that you can eat whatever you want, as many fatty and unhealthy foods and still not put on pounds???

..If so i would defenitly not try to avoid fatty foods (mcdonalds)...in your situation you need to get as much in your system as possible. If you are really trying to bulk up muscle wise, you are probly looking at 3000+ calories a day.... which is a mighty tough chore on "healthy" foods alone and fi you aren't going to take protein shakes etc. Just make sure that you balance what you eat, in terms of fats to protein and carbs.....

I'm 6'1 and 140 lbs.

Is that an ectomorph?

Unless you're a total bone-rack, try and gain the weight slowly and keep it 60/40 muscle/fat (at the least). Please. A skinnyfat body is the worst.

You know how to do it; quality protein, complex carbs, keep the fat intake at a reasonable level, throw in some weight training, minimize the cardio/calorie burning activities. Abracadabra... you are no longer skinny.

I would defenitly not say that is bad at all. Maybe w/ the caveat that you have only one meal like that a day. Most ppl who say to avoid those meals are not ectomorphs, and very few people are i would imagine....... It's all about getting plenty of calories into your system to give your body the framework for building muscle mass....

That depends. How long has your weight been like that for that height?? Also, eating wahtever you want, tons of unhealthy foods etc. will that make a significant impact on your weight........ if NO, then you prob are an ectomorph.....roughly speaking...

How tha FOK do you know that i don't know what im talking about you prick???? Get over the fact that i told a school group project that i had a deth in the family to get out of doing the entire project by myself....

AND, it is PERFECTLY fine for osmeone to eat fast food when they are bulking up, if they are an ectomorph. I never suggested that they use this food to bulk up, but they should not avoid it if they are an ectomorph......

IT is painfully obvious you have no clue how an ectomorph bulks up son of a noob... its clear you are not one, so why are you trying to give advice about a body type you know nothing about....... get over yourself

lol I find it funny that you think that just because a person does not gain weight they must be healthy, and all those bad greases and oils do not ruin their arteries, not to mention he is trying to lift which those foods provide horrible energy.

OP please ignore this guy he has made it obvious time and time again he does not know what he is talking about and i am afraid you are going to get the wrong advice. If you do not believe me then that is fine because this is an online forum, but then go seek advice from your doctor.

I suggest you read through that and if you have any qyestions feel free to post there or PM

🙂

I still wouldn't suggest eating loads of sodium, cholesterol, and saturated fat containing products. It's very possible to be skinny as a rail and have terrible blood numbers.

OK... wtf is with these replies... FAST FOOD is crap for your body, don't eat it all, especially when you're working on getting healthier and bulking.

Things with protein that are good and easy to prepare:
tuna, milk, cheese, salmon, Whey Protein shakes, nuts, chicken, beef, etc. DON'T EAT FAST FOOD AND OTHER CRAPPY FOODS, ESPECIALLY FRIED FOODS (KFC).

NOPE, never once suggested that someone who is skinny is healthy.... stop shitting on what i say jag-off. I only said that those foods are FINE TO EAT IN MODERATION, they should not be aggressively avoided. AND the OP asked if waht he ate was fine...and for his body type, it defenitly is...... stop running around and saying that everything i say is lies becuse you are SOOO upset over some action that you felt so morally wrong

You are def an ectomorph. I am 5'4'' and I weighed 165 over the summer @ 13% bf. I am a meso with slight endo properties.

I need to gain weight, but I'm vegetarian....so I've got a tough time ahead.

EDIT: the fast food isn't the way to go..The oils and the sodium will do a number on your body. Not to mention the cholesterol.
