No thread yet? Releases tomorrow!

I'm cautiously optimistic. On one hand, both Fable I and II have been good, but not great games. On the other hand, it sounds like Molyneux might be making Fable III the game the others should have been. No reviews up yet, though, which is worrisome... I'll pick mine up tonight at midnight and put a few hours in probably. The kingdom stuff interests me more than the story by far.

Anyone else nabbing it?

Has anyone who pre-ordered from amazon gotten the code for the village maker yet? I'm still waiting for mine. Grrrr!

mine came last week, but the stupid site hasn't worked since (click on the button to start and nothing happens... everyone confirmed they were having the same issue on another forum).

Still haven't gotten mine. Does anyone know if you have to use the code before you start playing the game or can you do it after?

This should raise red flags. Remember Spore anyone? The character generator was a better "game" than the actual game was...

There is a rather large thread over on teamxbox's forums from a couple people that got copies last week. They've even been live streaming hours of the actual gameplay. Just in case you want to check it out.

After the atrocity that was Fable II, I'm going to have to wait to pick up Fable III.

The character generator isn't very expansive, so I wouldn't worry.

EDIT:

I was considering making a cool dude to add to the village, but given the lack of choices, I'll create a hot chick for my guy to... *ahem* meet.

EDIT 2:

Ugh, I keep getting terrible attributes... I want a saucy woman that's rich, but half of them end up being lesbians ~_~.

EDIT 3:

Finally got what I wanted...

I'd hardly call it an atrocity. It was just overhyped, as was the original.

I liked the original.

I didn't like any of the second one. It was less than mediocre. The moral choices were boring, the plot was terrible, and the gameplay was (IMO) worse than Fable 1. It seemed like an overall downgrade, with the addition of useless features likes jobs and a dog.

Obviously that is just my opinion.

I'll still probably pick up Fable 3 when its really, really cheap.

Played a bit last night. So far it feels exactly like Fable 2. I went in with the mindset of being an evil character, and had fun. Granted, I only put in like an hour of playtime. I just made it to the first village.

So far I'm still being cautious. It hasn't wowed me yet, but it doesn't seem like it's bad by any means. I'll just say this: I got New Vegas last week and will probably be playing it longer and more often than Fable 3 :p

only 8.5s on IGN.. as well as the comment that it's so easy that even a novice gamer wont die in this game.. I'll pass I think.

That's about what the 2nd one was as well, and I liked it quite a bit. Granted I didn't hear any hype for it, and played it after it dropped to $20 new so that probably helped. It's not difficult by any means, but the atmosphere and humor is pretty solid and unique for the RPG genre.

Still probably not worth $60, but I wouldn't completely ignore it. I got a decent amount of play time out of the 2nd one and this one is longer.

Hmm reading this makes me glad I Gamefly'd Fable 3 and purchased Fallout:NV (which I'm having a blast with). Fable 2 wasn't bad but if part 3 feels just like it then it's not worth the purchase for me. :(

8.5 is low if you ask me.. that's borderline and enough to turn me off the game or at least delay my purchase till its much cheaper.

I know this is going to sound like I'm trolling but I'm genuinly curious: What the number is that would make you happy, and what text in the review specifically turned you off?

For me, 8 or above usually interests me if the game has interesting aspects. For example, I don't like console FPS games, so one with a 95 doesn't truly interest me. A game that I'm already interested in, usually getting above a 70 is fine, but I usually peek at the cons.

There's a big difference between saying that you aren't going to pay $60 and own a game with an 8.5 rating and saying you will never play it at all because of the rating. I know plenty of people who rent most of the games they play or buy used, and only own the few really great ones that they know they'll want to play multiple times. I know Fable III certainly hasn't seemed like a must buy to me.
