You Halflife fanboys are DAMN defensive. And I'd hardly call HL2 real software - believe it or not computers can do things other than play games, and some $54 engine-demo (That's EXACTLY what this is) is NOTHING compared to what people do outside their parents basement.

Aren't you 17 and live at home? With your parents?

Yeah, pretty sure you need to shut the fvck up.

Troll troll troll your boat.....

Seriously, if it was such an "awful" game, WTF did you buy it? Second, this is one of the greatest quotes ever posted in this forum. The guys in software would love it! 🙂

Bite me, I don't patch my software out of the box - I tend to assume that if it was good enough to go in the box, it's good enough to function properly. 99% of the time, it is.

It is. Out of my hundreds of titles I can only think of a few that required patches to ensure proper functionality. HL2, Tribes 2, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines (Although that hasn't been patched yet, it sure as hell needs it). And of course, Windows 2k/XP.

I can think of more that required no-cd cracks out of the box to run AT ALL.

Lets get back on track here. Why did you purchase something for $55 without doing the research? Do you even like FPS? I bet you havent even tried lowering the sound quality from high to medium.

I think I figured it out. See, Eyemwing created this thread so he could troll for as many replies as possible in a short period of time. Then, he changed the title saying this is the offical thread for his fan club. He did this so it looks like has lots of friends.. he'll probably print out the topic page and put it on the walls at school. Looks like the game is over old man!

I tried lowering the sound quality to each and every one of the settings. Unless the game requires a restart, it changed nothing.

The patch, however, fixed it.

Yes, I like FPS. In fact, I can and will play any game that has a mildly engrossing storyline - but as soon as the software starts to get in the way of the story, it becomes barely worth the effort. Research? You'd think that out of the eleventy billion people that I've heard scream "OMG OMG HL2 ROXXORZZZZZZZZ!!!!" I would've heard about any serious issues. Apparently not. From what I've been able to gather so far, though, the game isn't ANYWHERE near what HL1 was - the storyline seems a bit contrived, but I'm not far enough in to know for sure. Barring any other annoying technical issues, I'll know in a day or two.

Actually, I changed the thread title when the issue was resolved and my fan club hijacked the thread anyway.

I know you and MacBaine secretly beat off to my every post. Hence, fan club.

yep, HL2 was even more overhyped then Halo 2

Yet you posted this from your parent's basement.

No wonder your girlfriend left you. *I* would rather get tag-teamed on a boat by two guys than have to put up with your arrogance... not surprising that that's exactly what she did!
