2x 512mb PC2700 kingston hyperx
SB audigy
40gb Maxtor 7200rpm drive
Optorite 16x CDRW
toshiba DVD rom
Ok, everything was working OK yesterday. Previously i had a problem with the computer locking on POST with the IDE activity light solid on, i couldn't press delete or anything etc, completely locked. What i did was change the cable on the driver (thinking this was a bad cable problem), and this seemed to work. Later on i noticed it was on slave, so i changed it back to master. No problems here. Also note that the two CD drives were connected and working fine.
Today I go to bootup and it does that locking thing again. I disconnect the IDE drive completely to see if it is that, and it isn't. I narrow it down to being my CDRW drive, not the DVD. The Computer will boot fine now with this CDRW drive being disconnected.
The odd thing is, yesterday this was the IDE drive and not the fault of the other drives. Which leads me to believe something weird is going on with the IDE on this board. I did flash to the newest bios and it does the same thing with this drive.
I am also un-overclocked at the moment.
I made sure i didn't use the Nvidia IDE drivers as well. And yesterday my CDroms seemed to have had some trouble with locking up and reading CDs.....where as they worked fine before on my other motherboard. I think this may have something to do with it.
My second problem seems to be with the USB2.0, in device manager it shows it as having no driver says the USB controller and a "pci input device" (im assuming more to do with the USB as i have nothing else in there thats not installed)
My other 4 USB deviced are installed, as far as i can tell, im using one of them right now. I'm assuming this other device is the 2 other ports run to the back via the pins on the mobo. I don't have this plugged in (newegg send me two firewire things instead of a USB) so could that be the reason it's not installing drivers for it? I saw the thing on the install CD about getting the new USB drivers off of windows update, but I can't seem to get them or find them on the microsoft site.
The performance on this mobo is very good thoughJust seems to be very finicky...
If anyone could help me on one of these problems I would be gratefulTIA.

1-clean installl and update WXP
2-download and install nvidia 2.03(say no to SW drivers)
3-SB drivers
3-install video driver

Hello all,
I just built a 8RDA+ system with a 2500+ Barton and 512Mb Original Samsung PC3200 RAM (256x2) and after getting rid of the "SW Driver" and installing the "MCP2 IDE Driver" and the Microsoft Q815411 nForce2 fix (this fix dropped CPU usage shown in HDTach from ~50% to 10%), the system is running very well @ 2Ghz (12x166). 3DMark2001SE scores are ~13000.
However, there are still some quirks I cannot seem to fix. When I go to Device Manager -> System Devices, there are three Motherboard Resources listed. There is a yellow exclamation point next to the second one, and when I go to Properties for that resource, it says "Windows cannot load the device drivers for this hardware because there is a duplicate device already running in the system. [Code 42]".
I did a clean install with SP1, then installed the nForce2 drivers v2.03 and then the video driver v43.45. As far as I know I installed everything in the correct order and am using the latest drivers.
I've tried deleting the resource, and Windows simply re-detects it upon the next bootup. I went into the BIOS and disabled everything I wasn't using, such as the serial/printer ports and the game port.
I haven't actually noticed this having any effect on my system, as everything seems to operate properly (video, sound, LAN, USB), although I haven't tried to use the Firewire yet (although I did hook up the bracket).
I do not like the fact that Device Manager shows the yellow mark and would like to fix it, if anybody has any ideas they would be much appreciated.
[Edit] I just remembered that Sandra reports "System has no SMBus support", but I do not know what that means.
[Edit] It may be a problem when using a USB keyboard. Here are other people with the exact same problem. The screen shots are exactly what I'm seeing in my device manager. I'm going to try removing the "Motherboard Resources" in safe mode and see what happens...
Wow, I'm VERY tempted to try that. If I could finally run my board at 166 instead of 157, I'd be ecstatic.Originally posted by: cowdog
Currently running "beta" bios 3402. Apparently this bios fixes issues with low latency RAM.
Check here for the beta bios 3402.

Well here goes; going to try to do the VDD mod to my 8RDA+; going to solder it, hopefully. And I'll also see if I can screw a 40mm fan into the northbridge heatsink. It gets pretty warm, now that it has ASIII under it. Once I up the voltage and speed, it'll probably want active cooling. Now lets just hope I don't short anything out!
Sure, I'll just pay as much for a 256MB stick as I did for my 512MB one.Originally posted by: mboy

Am I supposed to download some USB 2.0 drivers somewhere? Aren't the USB 2.0 drivers automatically the the latest Epox 8RDA+ motherboard drivers (which I downloaded and installed)?
I would appreciate your help asap, thanx.
