I think this reveals even more, the sad state of affairs in Alaska. They're obviously bribed into supporting the Repubs by those hefty oil checks they get every year. Frankly, I'm just waiting for Palin and Stevens to seize control of the North Slope and all of the pipelines, Hugo Chavez-style.

actually no, I hate filibusters. I thought it was low when the Dems did them, and will think the same when the Republicans do them.

In his victory speech he said "we will change this country"

I know his whole campaign has been about change. But my question is do you really think the country needs to be changed? I mean, put it in perspective, how bad do you really think this country is?

Sure it is not perfect, and some policies should be adjusted, but I'm not sure I liked his message of changing the country.

The reason this country is not that bad even now is that when people see us heading in the wrong direction long enough, they vote to change the course. That is why we haven't needed radical changes like other countries with their incessant revolutions and coups. This country is going to change with or without Obama. Things have simply moved too far to the right economically and politically to work for the majority of the people, and now the pendulum is swinging back, and Obama simply got on the pendulum and rode it to victory.

4000 votes is like double Alaska's entire population :Q are the dead voting? 😛

I'd think that absentee ballots would bode well for Stevens, though, if they were cast before the indictment.

There are in fact four very close Senate races in Alaska, Georgia, Minnesota, and Oregon. And as of this writing, all are still too close to call.

I somewhat flash back to the election of 2006, when there were, as I recall, three such close Senate races. And the dems could only win control of Senate if they won three out of three.
And by 8 am or so the next morning, the dems pulled at least a minor miracle, and won all three.

This year, a filibuster proof Senate majority hangs in the balance with the dems needing all four races to go their way. Yet by noon the next day, the GOP holds a slight lead in all four. I say its going to take a really major miracle to pull out all four. And its even very doubtful the dems can win 2 of 4.

Yep, which is why we elected Jesse Jackson and Alan Keyes and every other black politician who ever ran for any elected office, because they were black. It's why no black politician has ever lost any political race. It's why we have so many black senators and congressmen and governors, because every time a black person runs for office they win, because they are black.
