so now we're doing these drinking games county by county?

take 1 shot every time "first black president" is mentioned and a beer for every mention of "white Kansan mother, black father from Kenya"?

Take 1 shot every "safe" state switches sides.

Take 1 shot every time they mention "Maverick"

Take 1 shot every time they mention "The first black president"

I voted about a half hour ago. Surprised at how quick it was. Only took me about 2 minutes from pulling up to the polling location to getting back in my car. I figured we would have a line. +1 for McCain.

Slightly off topic, but why doesnt the nominee with the most votes win? Instead of this system I dont even understand...

(The way I have understood it, you win a state and you get basically ALL of it votes).

I'm heading out to the polls now.

Count 1 for McCain here in NY.

I'll let ya's know how the lines were.
Don't be so pessimistic. I'm sure McCain will get more than 1 vote from NY.
At least three with Hillary and Bill.

😉

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008.... a date which will live in infamy.

Hopefully the nation will rebound from this disaster like it has from other ones in the past.

Nah, even Hil and Bill know that their two votes won't swing NY. And if it ever leaked out...... Heck, who knows what those Deibold machines realy do.

So when are all the votes supposed to be counted and the new president announced?
IIRC they start counting at 6pm EST it depends on how fast they go and how close it is, could be late tonight or tomorrow.. but hopefully doesn't go past that.

Actually it could be over real quick. The real magic number for Obama is 197 electoral votes for an early night. Why? No one expects California, Washington or Oregon to go to McCain. Obama has had huge leads in those states from day one. They have 93 electoral votes.
So if (when?)Obama gets to 197 electoral votes in the states in the Eastern and Central time zones the election is over.

Voted this morning in Manhattan... got to the polls around 7:40, took just under an hour to get my vote in.

Still waiting to rebound from the past 8 years, failed policies, ignoring the constitution, ruined global reputation, ruined economy. Yea, you're right, Senator Obama as president would be worse.

and one for Nov 5th :cookie:

My district had the biggest line ever according to my experience and to the election officials. It was 20 minutes in line compared to 15 minutes at the same time in 2004 (which was the last record line in my district).

Biden/Obama for president, republican for everything else.
You sound like my fiancee. She did something similar (although we didn't talk about the lesser races so some might have been democrat). In history, that has been the best combination: democrat as president with republicans in control of congress.

Myself, I've only been able to bring myself to vote republican once. It is bad enough having to vote democrat since the third parties that I agree with are currently jokes.
