I've got a meeting with a client that is going to intersect with the Nintendo and Sony Press Conferences tomorrow. Does someone want to step up and volunteer to do a Press Conference Wrapup thread for one or both like I did today with the MS Press Conference? I'll give you not one, not two but three :cookie:s if do! ;)

The biggest news for me is Netflix and RE5 co-op! That's enough for me, but all the other stuff was great. I can't wait for GoW2.

Looks like G4tv is doing about 4 hours of E3 from 7-11 nightly. Last night was 2 hours talking abou the day then replaying the MS conference. I watched most of the first part and they had some game demos shown including a live play of fable 2 with some of the developers.

Yeah, the Fable II part was pretty interesting. The Fable II graphics aren't going to stun anyone but the gameplay looks solid.

They also had a Fallout 3 and Ghostbusters play through but I stopped watching before they came on.

No 4-player co-op in GoW2

Four player co-op in Gears of War 2 would be too messy, the plot would fall apart, Mark Rein told me tonight as we sipped mojitos at the Ciudad restaurant.

But he and Cliff Blezinski both know how much gamers thirst larger co-op experiences. So the development team set out to create something that would be just as fun as four player campaign co-op, but not as problematic.

In Horde up to five players take on increasing large waves of locust, clearing rounds and scoring points until everyone dies. The idea is fairly straight forward and surprisingly fun.

I was lucky enough to sit down with Rein and Blezinski and play through a couple of matches of Horde as they looked on. It only took a minute or two for Rein to start back seat playing, pointing out where enemies were and chastizing my skill, or lack of it, with a sniper rifle.

"Head shot, head shot, you need to shoot him in the head."

"You know what we say in our studio, take your time, and do it right."

"Oh, you got him, OK you don't suck."

At one point Rein, apparently frustrated with how slow I was reacting to his shouts, tried to grab the controller from me to revive one of my dying companions. I twisted free and brought my guy back to life.

"It's fun isn't it," he asked as I continued to play.

Lots.

360 Fanboy have pretty good Multiplayer impression writeups.

That's a huge disappointment.

I was thinking about this yesterday, though, and came to the realization that it could end up breaking the game, since they would have to make it work for 1 person or up to 4 persons, and I'm sure that's not easy to do in terms of balancing the AI and gameplay.

On the flip side, Halo 3 was able to pull it off, but that's a much more open environment so perhaps it's not a fair comparison.

At least let us play as some of the other characters besides Marcus and Dom. I want to control the Cole Train. Woo-woo!

Unless someone wants to step up and liveblog on sochl under their name, you can take it off the list. I'm not going to be around for Nintendo's or Sony's :(

The IGN Nintendo Press Conference Video Feed is up

As I said earlier, I've got a client meeting at 2PM but the Nintendo conference should be done by then. I'll likely miss most or all of the Sony Press Conference.

Man, G4TV's stream is closer to real time, but IGN's is so much smoother.

I couldn't get G4TV to work for me yesterday...at all.

Animal Crossing will have day/night schedules, monthly schedules, adding a city with stuff like fashion designers and an auction site. Also communicate with others.

Adding a speaker phone called Wii Speak where everyone in the room can talk in the game.

Reggie up to lay the smack down on sales numbers.

Wii and DS - $5 billion at retail in North America alone.

Worldwide total DS sales to go over 100 million soon.

DS sales up 12% over last year in the US.

The Pokemons are driving DS sales.

DS software sales 29% ahead of last year.

Talking about targeting females with the DS.

Now showing the Wii 12 and 19 month sales. Obviously outstripping PS3, 360 and even PS2.

Showing Wii software selling more too.

19 third party games from 11 different publishers have exceeded 400k in sales.

Showing 246 games in the Wii library in the first 19 months. Greater than the 360 or PS3.

About to show three new games

New games:

Star Wars: Clone Wars - Holiday 2008
New Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party (interesting that they call this party and show only one person playing.)
Call of Duty: World at War

all showing off how the Wii controls are used. World at War uses the Wii Zapper.

Now talking about portable game sales. (I though Reggie said they were going to keep the sales numbers talk short?)

Another Guitar Hero DS game coming this fall called Decades that will allow you to share songs with friends.

Showing off Spore: Creatures too. All about creating creatures and sharing it with friends. Obviously not as fully fleshed out as the PC version.
