That freakin video is insane. It was tight to see CS too. New physics and grapics make it look a LOT better.

Someone converted that into DivX and brought it down to 150MB. I'd upload it if I had the file here (its at home and I'm at work).

nice download from filefront also, averaged about 225 KB/s

Yea, nice rate. I was getting 450K here. Video is nice quality too! 🙂-->

War, nice thread...I was going to post my own thread about what I saw at E3, but you've covered most of it...anyhow, my 2 cents worth:

I did ask one of the Valve guys about Team Fortress 2 - he said it will NOT be available when HL2 launches, and would likely be a stand-alone product. He also said that other mods, like Day of Defeat, should also be ready to go when HL2 launches.

I was VERY pissed at id for not having anything Doom3-PC related at the show - I understand they are busy trying to finish up, but damn, how long does it take to record a few video's to show?

Medal of Honor - Pacific Assault ( I could have sworn this was going to be called Rising Sun, but I digress) - very cool, more of the same MOH quality.
Call of Duty Expansion pack - again, more good stuff from the COD team, the playable version in the Nvidia booth had a nice trench-based level, and there was also a level where you were in a plance, and could control the guns...good stuff
Dungeon Siege 2 - forget the pack mules, you can get some serious bad-az animals with your group! - Graphics on this look amazing.

Star Wars - Republic Commando (or whatever the exact title is) - this was my favorite game at the show - a heavily modified version of the graphics engine that powers UT2k4, the squad tactics, even in this pre-alpha version, were excellent - any time you looked at an object like a rock, wall, etc, you also had the option to order a squad mate there - for example, if you see a large rock, you could send someone to snipe from that location - and the enemies (flying guys from Clone Wars - geo somethings) looked very cool, as did the battle droids..

SW Battlefront also looked cool, and looked to be much further along than RC was.

STALKER - I don't know, I wasn't as impressed with this as others seemed to be - I played about 20 minutes of deathmatch, and it was very boring, and the graphics weren't all that - the sniper gun was very nice, but it just didn't do it for me - the sun up/down setting was clearly going way too fast just to show the feature off, but after a few times it wasn't cool anymore...

FEAR - amazing - this was my 2nd fav game at the show - a real PITA to see though!

Brothers in Arms - who knows, they only showed Xbox footage - see Doom3 for my thoughts on that.

World of Warcraft - looks to have the typical Blizzard quality, but the genre just doesn't excite me much. I did talk to some of the Blizzard guys on the shuttle, and they did say they have been working on another game for some time, and initially were going to announce it at E3, but didn't want to take away from WOW, which was clearly their focus - even Ghost wasn't displayed very prominently. I pressed them for more info, but wasn't getting anywhere - I did get a smile when I mentioned SC2 - which would be very nice...

the Phantom console - forget it, piece of crap - though the keyboard is KILLER cool - that will be the one things from this that survives. Apex had a similarly functioning unit, which also let you use it like a PVR and play DVD's, which seemed like a much better idea.

SNK's booth was cool (I'm a huge Neo Geo fan - in fact the Neo in my AT name is from Neo Geo, not Neo from the Matrix - but again I digress) - they will probably make more money selling Xbox and PS2 titles than they ever did in the Neo Geo's entire life. Metal Gear games are great, and they should grab many new fans. Had a chance to apply some beat-downs in KOF2003 and SVC Chaos too!

In in the Nvidia booth, they had Far Cry, apparently running PS3 code on a 6800 Ultra - to be honest, I thought it looked crappy, the water at the shore looked like a mess - though I will say the rocks in the hillside looked VERY cool - it may have been a different rendering mode than I use or am used to, but we'll see.

I did see the 2 worst games I've possibly ever seen - the women wresting game, and the EA "rappers" fighting game - games like this are fodder for video game opponents. These titles made the "Eminem" game from last year's show look good.

Battlefield 2 had one of the coolest 'trailers' at the show, though that is the only place you could see it.

If you haven't done so, you have to watch the HL2 presentations.

The Unreal 3 thing was nice - zero waiting time and nicely air conditioned, but hard to get excited about an engine that is likely 2 years away from seeing a game that uses it - then again, Doom3 has taken longer.

Got to have some real fun playing Gran Turismo 4 in a nearly empty Sony room on the 2nd floor, against my friend, each of us with our our Flat screen TV and custom game-chairs - they even had free drinks and food! I think it was supposed to be for appointments only, but no one said anything to us.

The Sony PSP is a nice looking item, the screen is super-sharp. Didn't get to see the DS, lines were way too long - stupid that most of the attendees didn't get to see it. The same can be said for Halo2 - hardly anyone at the show got to see it - FEAR was the same way too.

Gary Coleman is a little troll - he's much shorter than I thought he was.

People were in line for Vin Disel 4 hours before he was due to show up.

Victoria Silversted (sp?) is very tall.

The only booth 'babe' worth mentioning, for the most part, was the bloodrayne girl. - ok, and the "E3 DVD girl - the tall one.

Eidos' booth was pathetic - the kid on the mic was so bad I wanted to start punching people. Other than the new Thief game, all their games sucked too. Their booth used to be one of the highlights of the show.

Very few 'swag' items this year - even getting stingy with the T-shirts!

The best hot dogs on the PLANET can be found right accross the street - wrapped in bacon - those things rule!

The Classic Gaming section was a lot of fun to look through - the console stuff moreso than the arcade section.

The Grilled Cheese stand nearby smelled way too good!

If someone made a split-keyboard illuminated, I'd buy it right now, those things are cool.

There had to be 200 of the Dell 21" flat panel monitors at the show - I want one!

Gabe Newell has put on 150lbs since HL was first at E3 six or seven years ago.

Killzone for the PS2 really isn't very good.

The Tapwave Zodiac is a nice little item - nice booth location though (awful in fact)

I can't think of much else, feel free to ask questions though.

Right on, Neo! Glad you can contribute! I do have some questions and comments:

- Medal of Honor: Rising Sun was the PS2 name of Medal of Honor: Pacific Assult. But how did the GFX look in compairison to D3 and HL2? They looked aged, but is it that apparent?

- How did the GFX on SW: Battlefront look? They also look a bit weak. I'm still really excited about this game though!

- Too bad about Stalker. Did you get to play any SP action?

- Was there any word on Brother in Arms and its release date?

- That funny about the Blizzard guys. They're pretty tight lipped guys from what I gather. I'm betting its either SC2 (a give-in with the WC3 engine, but probably a bit modified) or Diablo 3. I remember hearing about a year ago someone a blizzard letting slip about the Diablo 2 team was heavily in research on a real 3D engine for D3.

- Tell us more about BF2!!! 😀

I tell you what, she looks like that in real life too!

She was at some tiny little booth in Kentia Hall - not even sure what the company was, but she quickly attracted a big crowd!

My standouts from what I saw from the show:

1. Half-Life 2. The physics make this game. I can't wait to get this game running on my comp with quality sound.
2. PSP. This looks like a winner if they can up the battery life. That's the one mark against it. But other than that, it's much more sleek and modern, moreso than Nintendo's DS. I think Nintendo really needs to get more trendy pretty quickly, it's holding them down. I'd guess that atleast half of the gaming public purchase on looks alone, this includes the look of the console as well as graphics in games. The PSP is just slick looking.
3. EA on XBOX Live. This is huge. I'll bet Sony cringed when they heard this. I'll personally guarantee an increase in XBOX sales over the next 6 months because of this news.
4. Halo 2 multiplayer demostration and announcement of the LE version. The demo was outstanding, but not much to see really. Live will put this game over the top. And kudos for Bungie for releasing a LE version, complete with metal cover, making-of featurettes, and plenty more on a 2DVD set.
5. F.E.A.R. This game looks like it could be amazing, I'll definitely keep an eye on this one.
6. Ghost Recon 2 info. Loved the first one, can't wait for the second.
7. New Zelda game, with new look. Also knowing that this new look Zelda is what was previously announced to be WW2.

Things I didn't like?

1. Tekken 5. It doesn't look like it's changed at all! Let's hope Namco does something intelligent with this franchise before they ruin it.
2. Sega's stupid industry-shattering announcment.
3. Lack of info on GTA: San Andreas. This thing is supposed to release in 5 months, and all you can give us is 3 screenshots at the biggest convention of the year? Pfft. Let's see if it'll be delayed or not.

Yea, I echo most of your opinions you metnioned. Mainly HL2, F.E.A.R., GR2, the New Zelda, and GTA4. There is so much good gaming coming our way!
