I feel your sorrow. I also feel for those people who do date someone and don't get anything...there's a lot of those where I work :(

*shed's little tear*
i don't celebrate it, but any day away from my girl hurts, and after talking last night, it's really hard not to call.

My wife and I aren't really into the Valentines Day scene. We play it low key. We feel our wedding anniversary is so much more of a romantic day and its OUR day, not HALLMARKS. I am not anti-valentines but just not a real need to have an elaborate celebration. We do that often enough during the year!

Im gonna try and go out tonight...but if i was in a relationship, i would celebrate valentines day everyday...not on hallmark days as said above or national holidays.

I've always found valentines to be a silly day. Pick one day out of the year to show your love for you woman.

Hah the woman I'm chasing gets right pissed about things like that.

When she gets in fights with her boyfriends, then they send her flowers or soemthing by way of apology it drives her up the walls.

I'll just randomly pick days to send her flowers and show her I'm thinking about her, she loves that. But Valentines day if I sent her something she would feel I was doing it because I "have to", and I'd pretty much feel the same way. I ignore it, in fact I forgot it was today until I heard it on the radio this morning.

I love her 365days a year, not 1.

Noriaki,

That is the way it should be.

The more I think about it, the more I despise the creation of a holiday just to get consumers to spend money.

I enjoy buying my wife things, and she loves receiving them. So, we enjoy ourselves with the day. But this year, I'm not buying flowers--it's a waste--and I could buy her something that will last much longer!

fdiskboy:

It sounds harsh but I agree that the day feels forced. I like to do things when I am motivated not totally programmed. A good relationship is constantly being maintained, not just a once a year servicing!

Can I join the thread? I don't have anything to do today either, other than work. A dear friend sent me some flowers (they smell like pity though), but otherwise, this is just another boring day where I try to heap scorn and derision upon those with significant others'. ;)

I'm thinking about burning a picture of my ex later on as a sort of celebration. He looks better as a flaming effigy. :D
