s4 ends 12/30, 5 starts 1/15.

Now someone power me through last couple of chapters dammit.

It's just a simpler way to roll over old seasonal characters to the new season. It's nothing special, though they sure would love it to be. It's not like character creation is a long process to avoid, just a little less tedious to move all equipment, delete, then make new.

It sure sounded like it was going to be a change with substance when he talked about it at the conn so I can't quite understand how when it goes live it becomes nothing more than a glorified script to delete your character and create a new one of same class/name.

That's all it's ever been to me. But I didn't hear about it an blizzcon, just read the feature lists for the patch.

He started talking about it using language like "we know how much you hate to lose all the hours you've spent with your seasonal character at the end of season" so we're adding...

There is absolutely nothing in this rebirth process that allows you to continue with anything previously done. Items still gone, gold still gone, paragon still gone. Oh yeah, you can have the same name...as if you couldn't have done that yourself.

You lose everything except your time played. It was described exactly like that.

Your items are mailed to your non seasonal side, your character is rolled to level 1 as a seasonal character and you keep the time invested.

I don't have to delete a character and make another one. I continue the journey with the character I made the previous season.

That actually sounds like a decent feature.

Time invested would mean things like paragon levels, possibly craftsman progress.

You get nothing that matters in game.

The time invested to the character can be sentimental to people. You get to keep playing the same character.

Foer the rest os stuff that "matters", that is what non season is for. All your progress is saved on there.

It is not the same character. It is a new character that happens to have the same name and time played.

It is the same character. It is the exact one you made last season, rolled into the next season at level one and nothing on them. The time played is still there.

Getting gems up to 50 should get about everything done except a couple things in the final chapter.

Farm a bunch of greater rift keystones if you don't have many and we can get 55's done. Are we talking seasonal or non? My seasonal monk is much better setup than my non since I've barely played non-seasonal lately.

It is the same character. The data holding the characters inventory, level, and such is reset. A new character isn't added to the database, just a partial wipe of the old one.

And has been clearly stated, for game playing purposes that means nothing and it is identical to starting a brand new character.

Seasonal, i'll need to check to get exact number but I should have a decent amount of keys.

Superficially, sure it is a different character. But, it is the same character. It has the same unique id.

Also, finally got around to playing my monk again. Thanks to s friendly guildy, got my 6p EP 'splotion goodness.

Exactly. Without the levels, paragon, and items it is a new character.

And once again, your character is basically rolled back to creation for the start of the next season. It has the hours played and is the same character you had last season with no gear, paragon levels and gold.

A fresh start with an old character.

On a side note, if they leave the season achievement at GR 75 solo, I will most likely avoid seasons.

Always glad to help. 😉

I want to get a bane of stricken to play with in non season.

I sure hope getting extra stash space in season isn't too large of a time sink. I am no sure how much time I will want to commit in that effort.

Checked last night, i'm 1/5 in next to last chapter and I know i've got at least one done already in the last chapter.

As far as GR keys, have several dozen.

For the legendary transmute recipe, if I get a bad ancient, does cubing that only give another ancient or could it also be non-ancient?

If you're referring to the re-roll recipe then, no, ancient is not preserved. Legendaries and ancient legendaries are the same item, ancient is really just another property that gets rolled.
