Seasons are Ladders from D2 because approximately 80% of the posts on the Diablo 3 forums to date relate to how D3 should be more like D2 lol. Personally I don't see the appeal - it would be hard to shake the feeling of my 'old' character(s) being my 'real' characters and the "Season" characters just being farming tools to try to find the new stuff for my 'real' character(s).

Tiered Rifts sound interesting - Rifts do start to get a bit tiresome after a little while though I'm curious how they define "harder" rift. It'll be a bit of a bummer if it's just "same stuff, higher numbers".

If they take a more PoE approach and have the ladders contain unique legendaries and some unique mobs, it won't be so bad. I probably won't play it much, due to actually liking having gear and leveled characters, but whatever.

Got my WD up to 70 last night and I am really loving him. Ended up with 61% +Poison Damage and have been running poison pets. Only about 400k DPS / 2.7m Toughness, but I have little problems soloing T1 (thanks 5 dogs, big guy, and little minions!). I figure I'll get that Mask of J-whatever and be able to do higher T levels. Gotta replace some legacy 60 gear though that is bringing down my stats.

If the tiered rifts have improved dropped rates or guaranteed better roll probability I could see them being good.

Seasons would have to drop incredibly superior gear for me to care about it.

Seasons (ladders) cater to two types of people. The casual who doesn't have great gear, tons of money, high paragon level and the ultra hardcore racer types (especially if there is a prize at the end of the season). And, the only down side, is that the number of available "normal" players is reduced. But that isn't too bad IMO. With clans and communities, finding people to run with isn't hard and right now, the higher Torments are better run solo anyway (using the Unity "bug"; follower with unity and the legendary relic that lets them never die, you get permanent 50% reduced damage).

You know... I was rather surprised that we didn't get the speed run for Act V last night. I swear I spent longer in Act III, and I got that still. Ugh, I've never been so lucky in the Blood Marsh too! Everything was right there in the beginning!! 🙁 I have to say though that I think doing all those bounties has truly honed in my dungeon spidey-sense as I seem to go the right way about 90% of the time regardless of how many options the game throws at me. ...except for open world zones and pandemonium... still can't get those down. 😛

They'll probably put some ridiculously good legendary (but not absolutely necessary) in there so those that like to min/max a bit will want to do it.

I started working on my Witch Doctor last night (went to 30). I really don't know much of what works best for the character since I still don't have every ability. All I do is use fire toads and randomly press shift+LMB to drop toads off that end up running into everything. Of course, I have ridiculously powerful weapons, so things just melt. Although, I'd still like to find a good AoE clearing ability and a good single target ability. I just use Fire Bats with the rune to remove the channeling cost against most elites.

Tiered Rifts sound interesting. Couldn't care less about leaderboards. Seasons I really don't understand. I get to start a new character without access to anything else I've accumulated, for the chance to suffer the RNG all over again for some new legendaries?

Seasons sound good and bad. Fresh start feel, great. However, since there are unique items only found in seasons, does that mean I'll have to devote all my time to these "fresh characters" in order to get the special/unique items?

I would hate to stop playing my main characters just b/c there's a limited time on getting unique items in these seasons. We'll see though, could work out well for all I know. Will need more details before I make any kind of judgment call.

So I've got a Wiz that I've been gearing here and there and everything finally came together over last couple of days. Got a mirrorball from Kadala but it was only 1-missile. Great stats otherwise; 10% CC, 14% to Arcane Torrent, high int, yadda yadda.

I'm at around 1.8aps, 42% area damage, 61.5% crit, somewhere around 400% crit damage, 25% +arcane torrent, +14% magic missile, and 60% +arcane. Paperdoll DPS sits right at 1m, armor 8k, resists 1,800, LOH/LPS totals around 13k

Skill setup is (was, still being worked on):

magic missile (LMB)
sparkflint (RMB)
magic weapon (1)
prismatic armor (2)
arcane torrent (3)
arcane orb (4)

unwavering will
blur
dominance
*can't remember last passive* but played with a couple...glass cannon, etc

I can't figure out anything that is synergizing well and creating a really efficient run. Nothing is "melting" the way I feel it should...and also from what I've seen of other arcane builds. I guess I could switch my elemental to fire and go from there but I'll miss the +% to magic missile and arcane torrent. I'd need two new pieces for that to happen. I could craft a couple pieces but would have to rely on RNGesus fairly heavily.

I fooled around last night replacing one of my damage modifiers (sparkflint) with Archon and that made things a little better...but only every 60 secs and only lasted till Archon was gone. Am I just not doing something right on it? My thoughts were that I should be seeing some fairly large yellow numbers rolling up and things dying fairly quickly T1 - even, possibly, T3.

Any tips, ideas, suggestions on keeping the arcane path or just shelve arcane and go fire?

Just curious, why do you put your familiar on RMB? You only need to cast it once every 10 min or so. Wouldn't it be more useful to put arcane orb or torrent on RMB?

I get the feeling that people will just roll a toon specifically for getting that unique item that they want and then just stop playing once they get one. Then you wait until the rollover happens, and you transfer the item to your real toon. They'll become nothing more than farming toons... unless you don't have a class of that type already or something.

Got my first hellfire ring last night. A pretty decent one, basic damage, int, vit and CHD. Slapped it on a brand new crusader and was level 40 in 2 hours.

Crusader feels a lot less 'holy warrior' and more 'Thor' to me.

Mine is Captain America. I throw my shield and it mows down things. Then, I Falling Sword and win!

Wow that's quickly leveling. Man I need to get a hellfire ring! I haven't had much luck getting the stuff to drop from any of the keywardens except for the one in act 1 though. I can only manage T1 with my Wizard though so my chances aren't great.

Habit...I do better having 'big gun' type of attacks at my fingertips vs. RMB. All my toons are like this...HOTA for the barb is on button 1 for example.

Why would they do that?

Because they constantly tweak the game and fix bugs that can greatly affect builds? For instance, I rolled off a %dmg modifier before they announced it would be retroactively fixed for all weapons and kept LoH instead. Would be nice to revert it back to the original after they've changed the mechanics of how %dmg works.

You do realize you can roll that %dmg again right? The entire idea of rolling is a gamble. It would be stupid if there was zero risk in changing an item. And, as far as worrying about old items and new builds, Blizzard doesn't care. They aren't going to refund the people who paid hundreds of dollars for items, why would they care about someone rolling one?

Id be willing to wager you've got something just north of 0.000000% that they'll modify that item for you and the response most likely will contain words along the lines of you can do that yourself with in game mechanics.

I use Blessed Shield as well along with Justice (long-range hammer toss). I used to use Falling Sword, which was fitting with the name Kane (Kain being a Dragoon from Final Fantasy IV). I think I switched just to try some new abilities, and I ended up settling on Heaven's Fury (Split Fury). My only qualm with Heaven's Fury is that you can't direct the beams, but they tend to focus on one person if that's all there is.

Now, if I had that 2H sword that let you reuse Falling Sword within 4 seconds of the prior use, I would most definitely switch back to the ability of my namesake! 😛 Falling Sword even has a nice lightning-based Rune if you want to become Captain Asgard.

Maybe he changed dmg % into a main stat, but now that dmg % is being changed, he regrets not rolling LOH -> main stat.

I have one of the mats well. My wizard isn't 70 yet though!

I've gotten tons of plans, and tons of mats (2.5 rows full in my inventory), but very few match up, and fewer end up being what I need for my wiz.

I did get a nice set of reaper's wraps though. Perfect cold dmg, vit, and CC rolls! I added int with the enchantress and they're pretty great.

I have wasted so much on crafting and gotten only garbage. =( I haven't gotten a pair of reaper wraps with 2 stats I want, let alone 3 with a 4th to roll for.

Sometimes I don't understand why people make threads like this http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/12647044818
I love this thread but I do support ladders. The official Diablo 3 community is full of moaners.

I've gone through about 15 and mine are still mediocre but I finally got all the main stats I wanted at least, with another 5 mats used for re-rolling.
